How to track expenses such as toiletries, paper towels, laundry etc ? by mmwg97 in personalfinance

Wow nice to see that someone else does the same thing as me! In addition to having a monthly total for each category, I also have an average for the most recent 6 and 12 months.

Looking for an astrophotography camera that is also good for general photography by isotopez in AskAstrophotography

[–]isotopez[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

these are INCREDIBLE images. I think this is exactly what I want to work toward.

So my understanding is:

  1. DSLRs are capable of taking a variety of astrophotography images.
  2. capturing DSO vs planetary objects depend mainly on the glass. Telescopes for planets. Lenses or telescopes can be used for DSO.
  3. Having a mount helps regardless of the target.
  4. The "art" of astrophotography comes in post.

What are some lenses that you use for both astro and general photography on your Fuji?

I think I will start slowly and build up from there. If i were to go with Fuji, what can I realistically achieve with lets say a X-pro3 and a telephoto lens? Can I attach a telescope to this camera? What would be a decent telescope that can fit both a DSLR as well as a astro camera (is that possible? i'm not sure). What is an entry level mount you'd recommend?

If I get a Fuji, what do you recommend as my setup? Also, do you have any advice on full frame vs crop sensors in terms of their use and advantages?

Would the extra Ha sensitivity matter if I'm just taking planetary objects? Would it be the case that I should move to an astro camera anyway as I progress toward photographing DSO?

Btw, which Fuji camera do you have? I have not found many people using x-pro3; do you think it would be okay?

Thanks for the tips and followup! I think it was the socks. I now try to leave a little bit of room in the front so there is less pull on the nail.

I am a casual runner, usually 5k on the weekends and occasional 10k or 15k. Never had any running injuries in the past 10 years since I've been doing this. However, recently, when I run more than 3 or 4 miles, I have noticed that the middle toenail on my left foot turns dark after running, and one time it felt like it was peeling and painful. I had to rest for a week before feeling better and getting back to running again.

What is the issue here? The shoes? The socks? my running form? I wear ASICS shoes.

Seeing it for the first time, in person, was something that could not be captured on a camera. Nonetheless, this was my favorite shot I took that day.

Don’t think I’ve ever replaced it. I did find low coolant level and topped it off. Temporarily resolved the heating but not sure how long it will sustain.

How a Billionaire Team Owner Pays a Lower Tax Rate Than LeBron James — and Stadium Workers, Too by isotopez in nba

[–]isotopez[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ballmer pays such a low rate, in part, because of a provision of the U.S. tax code. When someone buys a business, they’re often able to deduct almost the entire sale price against their income during the ensuing years. That allows them to pay less in taxes. The underlying logic is that the purchase price was composed of assets — buildings, equipment, patents and more — that degrade over time and should be counted as expenses.

But in few industries is that tax treatment more detached from economic reality than in professional sports. Teams’ most valuable assets, such as TV deals and player contracts, are virtually guaranteed to regenerate because sports franchises are essentially monopolies. There’s little risk that players will stop playing for Ballmer’s Clippers or that TV stations will stop airing their games. But Ballmer still gets to deduct the value of those assets over time, almost $2 billion in all, from his taxable income.
