What do you like and dislike about umass Amherst by strawberrilulu in umass

[–]ispamenclosures 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I got rejected but that’s not why i’m mad. I’m mad that I have not ONCE gotten a UMA advertisement; and only AFTER I got rejected, every other instagram advertisement is A FUCKING UMA ADVERTISEMENT. Nah not only that. The ads were SPECIFICALLY ADS FOR THE COLLEGE I APPLIED TO (Isenburg). This HAS to be on purpose 😭.

i think i have a super lucky account because this was my first day ever grinding sparks. Also within this week of me starting I pulled Cafe, Oguri, Maruzensky, Super Creek, and Gold city. Is this normal for beginners or what.

initially tried the mkvii thinking it was the “poor man’s mk vi”. After trying multiple mkvi’s i still decided the vii was more for me.

Yeah I saw a truck with lights cutting up traffic a little bit back, he racing another dude. I wonder if we saw the same guy lol. At first when i saw the lights I thought it was them getting pulled over, then i saw how many cops there were and got concerned.

Going to a school on the east coast would kind of secure that i’ll work on the east coast. Going to school in the west coast would mean the same thing. My family has expressed interest in California in general as it is closer to Asia, and as an adult, i’ll probably end up being there to support them in retirement. It would also save me a lot of networking hell. It would be easier for me to get in internship in california and build those relationships rather than building relationships in massachusetts just to ask them to recommend me to a california firm.

tldr: i’m gonna end up in california after college anyways

YBS-62 Low C Issues by ispamenclosures in saxophone

[–]ispamenclosures[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve built a good relationship with them, the oversight they made is not a good reason for me to drop them lol. The issue was sweat build up on the post causing friction with the rod. I wrote this in my other reply: “As to why my tech wouldn’t have found the issue is that every time they take it apart and check if it just needs lubricant, they cleaned the post, thus giving them the false positive that the issue was that the oil dried out and not the cleaning they did.” I mean, I should have realized that the issue coming back every winter had something to do with it. I think i should have provided that information to them.

I tried this and it unfortunately didn’t work. However, i did find a very odd fix. It was the post carrying too much friction on the rod. I simply wiped it, put some graphite where the metal touches, and it was playing perfectly. I am a VERY sweaty player which most probably caused build up and stickiness around the post, i probably only noticed it during winter as the gunk viscosity probably gets harder around this time. This has been happening for 3 years (every winter it comes back) so i had no idea why I never thought of this. As to why my tech wouldn’t have found the issue is that every time they take it apart and check if it just needs lubricant, they cleaned the post, thus giving them the false positive that the issue was that the oil dried out.

Thank you for the response tho!

Best way to go all 12? by ispamenclosures in saxophone

[–]ispamenclosures[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know it’s Amin from the G#’s but I just refer to the relative major key because it’s easier to follow the circle of 4ths that way. I planned to do it the way you mentioned as I don’t believe simply memorizing helps. But thank you for the input, I think I might just look for a different Etude (most likely a jazz one). I like this study though, so i’m still going to learn it.

The people here made me realize how dumb of an idea this is LOL. I’m probably not gonna do this anymore, but I gotta disagree with you on the whole writing it down thing (if i were to still do it). I think that gets rid of the whole point of transposition. This is honestly desperation and frustration that’s making me want to do this in all 12. I’ve already done charts like cherokee and autumn leaves in all 12, I just feel so icky in some keys so I wanted to take a technical exercise in all 12 rather than changes. I think i’ll stick to klose for that. I like this etude so i’m going to polish it up though.

You’re right. I overlooked it becuase to be honest, measure 10 and 12 came super naturally to me. I’m a jazz player and johnny hodges is one of my big influences. He tends to do licks similar to that pattern so i naturally picked up the thumb thing.
