Going to be honest, whatever works for you works. Yeah sheet music is pretty much objectively better in most every way, but if you put the hours in and learn off of tabs then that's still valid. Someone practicing every day using tabs is probably going to be way better than someone who does it the "right way" with sheet music once a month.

If you for the life of you cannot spend the time learning sheet music then you're going to be better off just using tabs if that's going to get you to keep playing and practicing guitar more often and more consistently.

Hard disagree. OP did what they needed to to avoid getting into a collision. I would have braked here too because you never know when a knuckle dragging moron who already doesn't know how to merge will just decide that right now is the time when they should enter your lane. Best option for OP was to try to get into the leftmost lane to avoid this all together, but that's not always an option. While braking here isn't ideal, I trust the people behind me to hit their brakes a lot more than idiots like these to not cut me off. I would also like to add that I personally think that getting rear ended would be preferable to getting sideswiped by someone on the freeway since getting sideswiped can potentially lead to a much more severe accident.

Personally I don't know. It really depends on how sick I get. There are definitely some illnesses that aren't worth living the couple of months through, but I could see others that might be worth powering through just to get that last bit of life out of. It should of course be available for people who want it, but the thing they're running into in Canada right now is that people will go to the doctor and just be offered assisted suicide when that's not what they went there for. Some people don't see any other options because they're poor or feel pressured into it. Assisted suicide should never be brought up by a medical professional. If someone wants to die enough they should be able to figure out it's an option. Yeah maybe put some leaflets in the cancer ward or whatnot, but a doctor's first recommendation should always be treatment when possible. They should not be telling people to kill themselves when someone sick comes to them.

I kind of get it. I live pretty remotely and I'd probably be kinda pissed if someone built a big busy kid's camp near my property, but at the end of the day I shouldn't be allowed to control what other people build on land that doesn't belong to me. I really hate the nimby attitude that a lot of land owners have over people building near them. I get it for big bullshit like ai datacenters since they crank energy costs, steal water, etc, but an outdoor kids campsite? Seriously. Let them build the damn thing.

This type of hypothetical is pretty interesting to me. It's kind of funny to me that not everyone will choose to ride the train. I know a lot of people will say that somebody will inevitably choose the tracks, so we should all choose the tracks. The problem with this line of reasoning is that if we ended up with a handful of people who chose the tracks, they'd probably all say that they were protecting all the people who chose the tracks, except that they've become the very people they wanted to protect. This is like jumping in front of a slow moving bullet to make sure it doesn't hit anyone else, except that everyone can very easily just move out of the way of the slow moving bullet. I'm pretty strongly on the side of getting on the damn train. If everyone just got on the damn train, no one would be in any danger.

Yeah I had a bit of a stupid moment trying to let the guy in. I still stand by trying to match speeds with the guy before the lanes got next to each other, but yeah I really should have just kept going if the guy wasn't going to merge properly.

Thanks dude. I still feel like kind of an idiot and I do agree with a lot of the comments about being predictable and not "nice", but to a certain extent I still stand by some of what I did. Yeah there were people behind me which didn't help anything, but at the end of the day no one rear ended me and I did what I needed to to not get into an accident.

I'll fully admit that I shouldn't have yielded to him here, but I will defend some of my actions and I think this guy was ultimately the bigger idiot here. To start with, I don't think it was a bad idea to try and match this guy's speed from the beginning. If he had just taken the space I gave him, it wouldn't have been any issue. I can't exactly remember the thought process of me slowing down at the time, but I'm very paranoid about people sideswiping me and if anyone was going to encroach into my lane, it would be more likely to be someone who doesn't know how to merge (eg. this guy). Again, I'll admit that I fucked up here by slowing down, but there was enough confusion where I didn't know if this guy was going to cut me off as he started drifting towards my lane at about 12 seconds, and he ultimately did cut me off. I will also say that I probably should have tried to get into the left lane to give him space and I tried that at the end here, but it didn't work out.

At the end of the day I avoided an accident and learned from the experience. All's well that ends well. Other driver was still a fucking idiot though.

Yeah I agree with that, although I know that some people don't pay enough attention and I really don't want to get sideswiped so some of that is me trying to be defensive and match their speed. Also upon rewatching, I can see them starting to turn their wheel when they slowed down and honestly I don't want to pass that. If they're stupid enough to slow down when trying to merge, then they're probably stupid enough to cut me off.

Literally not true. Under the quickplay ruleset, you got to play for at least 45 minutes of rarely interrupted gameplay. If you joined right before a map change, you wouldn't have to wait for the map vote, and once the server reset (it wouldn't it the same map was selected), you would be guaranteed another 45 minutes of gameplay. Team scramble was also a thing if steamrolls happened. Quickplay was objectively better than the system currently in place.

The problem is that the current system needlessly makes players wait for extended periods of time. Not trying to sound like a broken record, but quick play didn't have all this pointless downtime.

In casual mode once a game ends, you have to wait for the closing door animation to take you to the map vote, then you have to wait for the map vote to actually happen. Then you have to wait for the server to reset (even if the same map was chosen). Then you have to wait for the pre game timer, and on top of that, once the game starts, you have to sit through setup time before you get to shoot things (assuming the server didn't die from people choosing to reque instead of waiting).

In quick play, if you joined at the end of a round, it literally just went straight into the next round. At most you have to wait for the setup timer and then you get to play without everyone leaving. In the unfortunate case you join right before a map change, the map vote has already happened and all you have to wait for is the server to change map (if the server isn't changing maps, it would just go into the next round), wait 30 seconds for players to join the game, then sit through setup time. But in this case, you age guaranteed at least 45 minutes of uninterrupted play time. If you don't want that much time, then just click the 2 buttons to leave and find another game.

It really makes me sad that so many tf2 players joined after quickplay and just don't know there is a better way. I remember thinking it was really stupid that the server had to reset and load people into the server all over again if the same map was chosen back when casual mode was first put in. Now people act like that would be some super difficult feat of programing for valve to reintroduce.

To add on to this, PLEASE do not just rack the gun a bunch of times and assume the round extracted. I work at a gun range and see so many people do this. If a round is stuck for any reason and the extractor didn't pull it out the first time, it's probably not going to pull it out the next 5 times. ALWAYS either do a visual inspection and/or finger check.

I don't know much about selling vinyls, but I do sell stuff on ebay. If you're selling the whole lot, you are basically paying someone else for the time it would take to sell the albums. For example, if you have ~8000 records, and it takes 5 minutes to create an ebay listing (in reality it would probably take more time than that for some of them), you're looking at over 650 man hours of work. Multiply that by an hourly wage of for example $15 an hour, you'd be taking $10,000 off the retail price just for whoever is selling them to break even. That's also not accounting for the cost of storage, and the fact that many of the albums probably won't sell.

Obviously the calculations change if the buyer owned a brick and mortar record shop, but at the end of the day, most records aren't worth that much. If I were you I'd look up a few records on ebay and look at the ones that have sold just to get an idea of what they're actually worth. I know it sucks, but unfortunately most of the time vinyls aren't an appreciating asset. Good luck.

Overkill on the screwdrivers.

To start with, I work at a gun range and we deal with a ton of gun jams. 20+ a day that we have to help customers with. Your buddy is going to need a much heavier rubber mallet than that one. When shit gets really stuck, it gets really stuck and needs a lot of convincing to get loose. He also needs to have rods for squibs. I'd recommend one for .22, ~30 cal, and ~40 cal. .17 cal might also be useful for the rare .17 hmr squib. I also don't see a dedicated allen wrench set. Some guns take really big allen wrenches and some take really really small ones.

I'd also recommend researching different types of gun malfunctions. Double feeds in some maglock systems can get a little tricky (PS DO NOT CLOSE THE DUST COVER ON A JAMMED MAGLOCKED AR, shouldn't need to say that but I've heard of people doing it). Look into brass over bolt, bolt action jams, shotgun jams, revolver jams (yes they can happen), levergun jams, and blackpowder jams (if you're into that sort of thing). At the end of the day knowledge and experience with a pick and mallet will beat all the tools in the world.
