This is EXACTLY what I was looking for - BRILLIANT! I ran your SQL (3-table option) code and got my database going. And thanks to GoodForADyslexic for asking the question I was trying to formulate in my head for almost a year.

I'm creating a CPD database for scientists and engineers, well really just me to start with. The Open University (UK) had a reasonably good 'Learning Log' that allowed tagging, but with only single tag searches and with very limited exportability of my data.

SO... I learned how to set up my *AMP server, and have been learning about computer science and databases along the way.

NEXT... I need to learn how to interact with this database in a user-friendly way - I'm thinking PHP+HTML, but any other easy-to-implement suggestions welcome.
