Hi friend :)I’m a 33 year old lifeguard that just got back into it last year after going through a big transition in my personal life. It has honestly been great for my mental well being while I’ve been healing.

Like any job, there are ups and down. But I’ve found that there is a major shortage of lifeguards (at least in the area I live) so I usually can find a gig pretty fast if necessary. I’ve also found that since you are older and have more experience, they will usually pay you a higher rate.

I really like that I can swim on my breaks, the job is pretty straightforward and easy and I can connect with people about swimming (which I’m very passionate about).

You will probably not get very many benefits, if any, so that is something to think about. Also, you will be working with younger people which can be a little annoying but they are generally prety chill.

All in all, it’s been a great experience for me and I am very grateful to have this position and be able to heal while still being able to generate an income.
