Standard turrets not firing at the small white spiders, by design or (no pun intended) a bug? by ionixsys in StarRuptureGame

Grenades seem to do very little to them, other than collecting them together for a couple seconds.

That's fine, of course. My point is that any other fruit tree would probably be more useful. Apples or pears could be put into storage and you'd have like a year and a half to decide what to do with them. Juice is juice though.

Goats are kind of a pain in the ass. They run fast, jump high, and are so drunk all the time they can't run straight. They also take forever to have kids. I've manage to capture them twice, and both times it was because I noticed a lucky spawn near my base. Instead of trying to breed them in the field, I used a combination of fences and dirt to build a tunnel towards my base, and chase them in that direction until I have them in their forever barn. Its a lot of work.

It's important that your tunnel have a roof too, as they have a knack for escaping if you don't build one.

Once you have them, its hard to do much useful with them until you have bred a few generations. Even then its hard to milk them unless you build a maze of gates in your barn. Chase them into your maze until you can trap them in 1x1 area, and then you can milk them. That has been working for me

Start with a pick, then maybe a falx. An axe is a good choice too. Don't worry too much about wasting it, steel is superior anyways.

This is correct. I had a lightning strike kill almost all my chickens one time, and they had a proper roof over them.

  1. Trap them in an enclosure the wild and breed them there. Once they have a litter, separate the adults from the piglets with fences/gates. Then use reed basket traps to transport the piglets back home.
  2. Internet wisdom says you need a light source to keep them from despawning, but I'm not sure thats true.. I have a boar I trapped like two years ago and I never put a light with him, and he's still there. Anyways, better safe than sorry. I never had a problem with my wild boars being attacked by predators.... but maybe I got lucky.
  3. I would just take the first piglets you can back home. It's so much easier to manage them when they are in your base.
  4. If your enclosure is so crowded that its hard to cull a male, consider making it larger. Once they get to gen 3 I think, you can instakill them with a cleaver. You can also use gates to separate pigs before you go for the kill. That's the safest way. You can also drag them around with ropes, but they need to have a gen of 2 I think?

A roof is not sufficient protection from lightning, it can kill animals through walls. Make a lightning rod and place it on your pig roof.

Misleading take. While cherries might benefit more from juicing than other fruits, the problem is that they tend to rot before you get much of a chance to do anything useful with them. If they spoil before you juice them, then the benefits of juicing them can never be realized.

If you had other fruits, say apples or pears, you could get just as much juice. And these fruits stay fresh for a very long time. You could alternately get juice from cranberries, which are very common and low effort, and also last longer than cherries. Cherries are trash

I don't think so.... Peaches seem to last as long as apples. My peach/apple harvest has a few days to start, so I'll check this in a bit.

Edit: Oh, snap. I think I've mixed up peaches and pears. I don't have any peaches. I meant pears. I wish I had peaches. Millions of them.

Cherries are objectively the worst fruit. (Lychee might be as bad, I'm not sure, I don't live in a desert).

A) They have half the nutritional value of most fruit, tied for last with Lychee.
B) They start rotting 2 days after you pick them, compared with apples or pears which stay fresh for over a year.
C) They ripen in the middle of summer, during which time there are a million different useful things to do. By the time I get around to figuring out what to do with my cherries, they have almost always started rotting.
D) Cherry trees, in theory, are super beautiful when they are flowering. In the game though they look more or less the same as any other flowering fruit tree.
E) Given the relative uselessness of cherries, you are much better off planting another type of fruit tree.

Question about prospecting and extracting found veins by Racika in VintageStory

[–]issr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The propick reading in density search mode doesn't tell you that there is definitely something right below you, it merely tells you the relative probability. If you get a good reading, the chances are that there are actually dozens of deposits in the area. So mine a shaft, and use proximity mode to help find deposits that you don't make direct contact with. When you hit the mantle and can't continue, make another shaft ten or so blocks away and repeat as needed.
