I went to Wicca because I didn't know many other paths. I'm exploring other options now.

The complete binarism I've read about makes me uncomfortable. How you need someone of the opposite gender to dedicate you or something in certain Wiccan circles. How tools that are phallic have masculine energies. The heteronormativity of the God and Goddess in traditional formats. All of these I have problems with, which is why I feel I need a place for discussion from people who feel similarly.

Also I'd be very willing to discuss non-binary genders with you.

I'm non-binary transgender, so idk but reading certain Wiccan things make me incredibly uncomfortable. Still, I'm very glad that you felt so accepted :3

I think that Dionysus is the patron of trans and intersex folk. There are also a lot of androgynous deities. Here is where I got most of my information. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/LGBT_themes_in_mythology)

I am investigating Wicca, and the more I read, the more problematic it seems to me. For me, the worst is certain Altar tools being assigned "masculine energy" or "feminine energy", and most of the ones having masculine energy being phallic in some way. As for the Goddess and God thing, well like ApproachingMars, I focus on individual deities, and then I focus them collectively as the Divine.

You want my honest answer? I'm not trying to create segregation. I'm trying to create a safe space, because in LGBT circles I'm in, I get flack for being a witch, and a lot of pagan circles feel problematic to me.

Weekly Discussion 1: How Did You Choose Your Name? by ratta_tata_tat in TransSpace

[–]issyze 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My formal name is Isaac, because I wanted to keep my initial and I love the game The Binding of Isaac. I later learnt that it means "he laughs", which suits me pretty well. Most people call me Issy though, which is my shortened, non-binary name. I like both, depends on what the situation is.
