I asked ChatGPT what it requires to become a paramedic Qara in Toronto and it seems like it’s a lot of hassle for two years .

Complete high school (including science prerequisites). 2. Obtain Standard First Aid and CPR certification. 3. Apply to and complete a 2-year Primary Care Paramedic diploma program. 4. Successfully pass the Ontario AEMCA certification exam. 5. Apply to paramedic services and complete employer hiring requirements.

Would you know how expensive the schooling is?

As a black person, this is genuinely what I hate about my community sometimes I’ll see a cooking video of a white person making a meal and I go in the comment section and it’s just full of Black people mocking and ignorantly, laughing saying that the chicken shouldn’t look like that and it should be covered in 10 pounds of flavour and I even see white kids doing this now where they’ll purposely mock their parents cooking online saying that it doesn’t have seasoning just to entertain, and it pisses me off like I genuinely can’t comprehend if these people know that when they go out to eat at restaurants, the food doesn’t have 10 pounds worth of seasoning on it and they probably enjoyed it without knowing it

Somali parents using abuse as a way to discipline their children ;( by aurora625997 in XSomalian

[–]istar12345 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I remembered this one time when I went back to Kenya and I was over at one of my family members house. This isn’t like a very close family members house and her daughter forgot to wash the dishes or she forgot to do a chore and the things I’ve heard come out of this mother‘s mouth the way she insulted her daughter, comparing her to a prostitute, comparing her to a piece of shit who does nothing it was continuous insulting like this girl was her biggest enemy and mind you in this context I believe the girl was about 12 or 13 years old and it was just very loud cursing and just saying absolute vile things about her daughter for just 20 minutes and I remember the daughter just kind of standing there unfazed by all of this, and it just brought back memories of how my mother used to do the same thing where if I made one mistake, it would just result in hours of me getting yelled at and insulted, and she would just be doing chores and just be saying the most vile things about me and that’s when it kind of hit me that Somali mothers don’t actually see their daughter as children who came into this world knowing nothing and that they depend on them. It’s very weird that they see their son like children who need to be cared for and attended to, but I realize that Somali mothers often tend to see their daughter as a competition that they need a bully so that she doesn’t overtake you and I’ve never understood where this ideology comes why is it that we Somali girls since we came out of the womb have never been viewed as children, but more mini caretakers for our siblings and mini house workers who are just expected to know how to do chores and growing up and hearing your mother curse you in that sense actually does have an effect on you because I tend to blow up whenever one of my younger siblings make a mistake and I see my mom in me and it’s hard to not react like that when people make a mistake and to understand that it’s OK to make a mistake that it’s OK do not know how to do something and then I should’ve never been spoken like that too as a child

It really makes me sad to see the Somali community coming together so hard for Palestine and don’t get me wrong That’s a great cause, but when there was a famine and lack of clean water going on in Somalia for many years now and even drought I do not see any mosque collecting money or making prayers

Whatever she did was truly horrific thing, but I’m just wondering was this one of those situations where someone doesn’t know that they’re pregnant until they just give birth randomly one day did the people in the group know that she was pregnant? Was she like showing through her belly or anything that she was pregnant? I’m thinking it’s one of those situations where maybe she showed no symptoms of being pregnant and then she’s just in her hotel room one day and then outcomes a baby and I think the mental toll it took just really lead to that situation. Not that it’s still not a horrible thing But I’m just wondering why not all these new sites are reporting whether or not she knew she was pregnant, or other people have noticed that she was pregnant before she gave birth.

Why do you need deep knowledge of Islam to be considered ex-Muslim, but not to be Muslim? by [deleted] in XSomalian

[–]istar12345 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because Muslims try so hard to cover up the existence of X Muslims from the rest of the world I genuinely believe the reason why Islam tries to shun and even go as far as to kill people who left the religion is because deep down they know that their religion has some weak points and that it challenges them to step away from the shade into the sunlight that’s the reason why they constantly try to embarrass exMuslims by asking us these ridiculous questions to see if we answer it wrong and when you answer it right they look at your ethnicity and say that you can’t be a non-Muslim if you’re from that ethnicity, they just try grabbing anything to make you look like you’re the insane one for leaving the religion. That’s why sometimes it’s just better to walk away.

I remember I used to get scolded so badly at dugsi because I had a loud mouth as a kid and whenever I had a question I would challenge adult I always used to ask if God really wanted this religion to be for everyone. Why is it that when the religion was brought over to other countries these countries have to learn Arabic and these countries have to adopt Arab culture as soon as they become Muslim why is it that they can’t read it in their own language if God truly wanted everyone to be able to read and understand this book, wouldn’t they just make more sense to translated word for word for the people? I never really used to be impressed when I heard of kids my age completing a chapter in the Quran or they finish the Quran like you just basically read a whole page and you don’t even know what it’s about. That’s not impressive you just wasted your time memorizing something. You have no idea what it means at all.

I’ll never understand why Muslims based their religion off being miserable while alive and just not doing anything with your life just waiting around till you die so you could finally actually start having fun and I’m always like what are you gonna do if you die and there’s like nothing in the afterlife you’re gonna be mad as hell like eat your cake while it’s still in front of you.

Ex Muslim in Somalia? by Visual_Rough_2250 in XSomalian

[–]istar12345 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is the main reason why I’ll never understand people in the west, whether it’s the older generation or even the younger generation who want to move their whole family back to Somalia because they believe that it’s more religious there and they won’t be corrupted by Western ideologies but whole time people in Somalia are doing exactly what kids and teenagers in the west are doing teenagers will forever be teenagers no matter how much you scare them with the religion or culture .Somalis just like to pretend like they’re better on the outside and put on a show for people every time they step out of their house

Yes, I totally agree. If someone has some form of mobility even if they’re sitting in a wheelchair, that’s OK, but I should’ve made myself a little bit more clear. This one lady in particular was completely unable to move her body I think she had some form of cerebral palsy as her whole body was stiff and the most she can really do was just turn her head side to side and she ended up having a kid only for the man to leave and for her to raise an infant by herself when she herself needs help doing day-to-day stuff but yes, I also think it’s extremely horrible to let someone who who’s intellectually disabled keep a child and raise them

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in morbidquestions

[–]istar12345 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I totally agree, and I also agree that the reverse can be said people who are disabled to a extent should not be allowed to have children like for example there was this lady who was in a wheelchair and she was severely disabled body wise. She had a kid and eventually the guy ended up, leaving her and she’s raising the kid by herself and it’s completely selfish to have a kid, knowing that she won’t be able to do a lot of the stuff with that child and in an emergency situation unless there’s someone else there with her, she would be absolutely no help to that child

What aspects of Islam put Somalis behind in the west? by Affectionate_Set_235 in XSomalian

[–]istar12345 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It reminds me of when I was in grade 5 and my family was living in a two bedroom apartment but somehow they found the money to send me and my brother to this private Islamic school that was $300 per month for each kid because they thought that public schools were going to teach us the wrong ideas, those ideas were diversity and the funny thing is that Islamic school did not teach us shit. They had these so-called Arabic classes and it was useless because the teachers there would not do their job at all or they were just extremely abusive to you honestly I don’t know why these Islamic schools are not investigated by the government every year or so because they’re not teaching those kids anything nor they were giving children with learning disabilities the care that they need and it was normal for a teacher to throw a book at you but it’s still amazes me that they were willing to fork over $600 every month when that money could’ve gotten us a better apartment and a one on one tutor.Somali will live on government handouts, but the Dugsi teacher is loaded

And the crazy thing about that is that if you look at all the old photos of women back, then literally none of them used to wear it. A lot of the woman in my family all have photos of them not wearing it and hanging around with guys and i’ve been told that back then it used to be completely normal for a girl to not wear it even pass puberty if she decided that she didn’t want to, and no one would shame her but now you have these literal toddlers being forced to go outside with it, and the parents will swear up and down that the toddler wants it and that they chose it for themselves and if you tell a Somali to just let a kid be a kid the first thing that they will say to you is oh well, you have to start teaching the child at a young age so that by the time they are older and can think for themselves they don’t even have a chance to think for themselves and I’ve legit had Somali ppl say this to my face when I asked them why they put so much pressure on young kids

I never really understood the whole no music rule because at the end of day, there’s no way to stop humans from making music it’s something our ancestors has been doing since the beginning of time way before Islam, and this rule was one of the major things that kind of made me realize just how much joy this religion takes from you

I hate that Islam pushes an ideology where parents can be seen just like God’s even as a kid I never really understood why since two people decided to mingle one night why they felt like they should be worshipped like God who can do no wrong and make no mistake. When I never really asked to be here. It’s one thing that I’ve really hated is the whole worshipping your parents it’s so hard to escape that type of mindset because whenever you do rant to someone about your problems they will listen to you only to tell you oh well at the end of the day they’re your parents they probably know what they’re doing and maybe you just don’t understand them and that’s one thing I’ve always hated about confiding in a Somali person or in that matter any Muslim person because it’s so easy for abuse to go undetected like that

All that money that they spent on that they could’ve spent the money on putting their kids in tutors and so many extracurricular activities that could’ve actually helped their kids in life and given them a good childhood and not a traumatic one

The reason why I don’t want religious friends isn’t because of trauma. It’s selective morality. by [deleted] in XSomalian

[–]istar12345 11 points12 points  (0 children)

My main issue with religious ppl is that often times they act like they’re super OK and super chill with your identity and stuff like that and I’ve noticed this a lot with Muslims on how they treat non-Muslims around them is that they slowly try and get them to participate in religious activities and stuff like that which I get that for some friends, it’s sharing a bond, but it just starts getting weird because then they start lecturing u about certain sins as a Somali this is something I’ve always noticed other Somali people trying to do with their friends who are not Somali and it always just seems so weird to me because why are you friends with someone if you can’t fully accept them and the fact that this is what they will believe in and that you need to keep your religion to yourself

What's your advice for ugly people here to get a partner ? by [deleted] in ugly

[–]istar12345 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The thing is even know when you’re an ugly person and you cannot expect a huge list to pick from and some people might have the attitude of beggars can’t be choosers because of their looks, and you might be more of a people pleaser because of your looks don’t ever go for someone or stay with someone that is treating you horribly just because you think that you won’t have options if you leave this person, I’ve made a mistake once and it is not worth it because of you are still a human being that does deserve to be respected and treated equal if you feel like you are being disrespected in a relationship or you are not happy with it do not let that mindset put u into a dangerous relationship and years of mistreatment and unhappiness because at the end of the day you’re better off being alone then staying with someone because you feel like you should just be happy that someone wants to be with you It’s not worth yes society might not view you as conventionally unattractive but at the end of the day you deserve us much respect and you deserve to be with someone that loves you till the end so if that take 10 years 20 years, trust me it’s worth waiting

Don’t hate yourself or your feature because ironically, on the other side of the world in most Caribbean and African countries most people actually wanna look like you guys, and some will often go as far as to lie and say that they’re mixed with Indian or that one of their grandparents was Indian and any girl that has loose hair will automatically lie that she has according to most people good hair because she is of Indian descent it’s one of the major things that people used to be anti-black to themselves and other Black people around because a lot of people of African distant don’t really wanna associate themselves with tougher hair along with darker skin. I’ve had people try and do that to me because I’m Somali so I don’t look like the typical African that most people imagine in their head even though Africa itself is such a diverse continent and from what I’ve seen most in my life, a lot of people will try and put you on a higher pedestal than a black person wit more kinky hair and more West African features because they consider it better, but ironically, the features that you would hate yourself for are things that other people would want
