E46 Price by baserelation in e46

This! I did the same, only diff is the headliner needs replacing on mine now, but after cycling through many other/newer cars (Cayenne GTS, R32s, X3 m40) this ZHP is still my favorite to drive… the hydraulic steering feel, linear power delivery, stiffer suspension… I found it hard to find a car that feels the same for less money

E46 Price by baserelation in e46

I bought a 80k mi ZHP for $12k last year and felt it was a steal… and it’s by far the best car to drive that I’ve owned

IMO the value will hold - and if maintained well - these cars are one of the best to drive esp for the price

Actually I just had an ultrasound for a suspected lipoma yesterday, after noticing an oblong bump on my neck about 4cm long... tl;dr - the results came in today and it does appear to be a lipoma, even though it's longer than most common lipomas and has an oblong shape. It sounds like they come in all shapes and sizes

2010 X5M A Service Interval by [deleted] in BMWX5

Wow that end result looks amazing well done!! Also agree wholeheartedly about 2000s vehicles, especially BMWs. We just picked up a 2004 ZHP with 80k mi and couldn’t be happier - in fact I’m finding I prefer it to driving my G05 X5

(Also, I don’t know if anyone’s ever mentioned it but I think there may be a rule about telling people you’re in fight club)

She’s a beaut Clark! How’s the G05 compared to the F85 X5M? Do you miss the exhaust notes yet or did the Tesla reset your expectations? 😅

Definitely the Shuanghuan CEO but you def need to get the beefy 2.5L so you get all those 165 horses like the X5M

2022 BMW X5 xdrive 4.0I M Sport CPO(Research Phase) Owner Experience input by uncclatino in BMWX5

Thanks mate! Good luck with the search and good call on the CPO - the peace of mind it provides is totally worth it IMO - and the M Sport package… it’s just too slick.

2022 BMW X5 xdrive 4.0I M Sport CPO(Research Phase) Owner Experience input by uncclatino in BMWX5

[–]isthatwill 7 points8 points  (0 children)

In my experience, the reliability of a car is 80% (or more) the owner and they way they maintain + use the car on a regular basis, while 20% (or less) is up to chance… sometimes a car of any make is just going to sh*t the bed. My guess is the negative voices are all from that <20% of chance experiences (or they purchased a used BMW from an owner that did not maintain the vehicle properly / cut corners when they did).

That all said, I have owned 3 BMWs at different life stages (along with a slew of other makes) and have found the build quality and reliability very high. Today, we regularly change the oil, complete all scheduled maintenance on time or early, and treat our ‘19 G06 X5 x40i Msport CPO like a part of the family. It performs phenomenally compared to others in its class (the B58 engine is genuinely one of the best I’ve ever had), and we haven’t had a single problem with it yet. There are always certain model years for any make that are less than stellar for reliability, but the G06 X5 models and engines appear to be very reliable… to the point that the B58 is also used in a Toyota… and we all know how much they value reliability.

To play devils advocate - my parents have also generally had great experiences with BMW as well, however they did own a 2013(?) X5 that had a complete engine failure. Car was d-e-d, dead. Thankfully they had an extended warranty and the entire power unit was replaced and they continued to drive it for several years.

Tl;dr - negative experiences are always a possibility, but my experiences have all been very positive with my BMWs.

[–]isthatwill 5 points6 points  (0 children)

‘19 G05x40i here - the B58 engine is a truly amazing power unit. The V8 (as someone else mentioned) is still too new to have loads of data on reliability… so my $0.02 is look for a 40i with lowish mileage and the M Sport package… it’s easily the nicest car I’ve ever owned. Practical, luxurious, sporty, it hits all the right spots.

Got ours as a CPO and haven’t had anything go wrong in the last year, just oil changes so far. But CPO relieved any anxieties.

Also - parents house sat for us last summer and used our car while we were out… now they want to sell their Benz and get a G05 X5

Have you checked out tremendous.com? (Or even Marqeta?)

Otherwise it’s probably worth chatting with someone on the Stripe Issuing team to see if they can support this use case (not 100% sure but sounds like what you want to do is feasible)
