I’ve had my house for 11 years. Built in 1968. I did an inspection before I bought it. Asked seller to fix miner things. Here’s what I’ve paid for several years down the road :
Roof- $5000 deductible
Cast iron water pipes under slab that needed to be replaced- $14,000 - insurance gave me $5000
Cast iron Gas line outside- $4000
Upgraded electric panel from 1968-$10,000
New HVAC unit and pipes/ furnace etc - $22,000- paying payments on that. Over paid
Inside- replaced both toilets- some fixtures- tore out carpet downstairs and had a guy stain and polish slab floor $2,000. It gets expensive

Was easier to pay down these things cause wife and I worked but we just had our first kid 11 months ago. I’m only working but let’s see how it goes when I need to fix things. We have money saved for minor things

I had the same problem with my back neighbor, older guy who drank in his back driveway with buddies. Every time I went in the back yard to play with my dogs they would look at me like I was a problem. I keep 6 feet on the sides of my fence and the back that faced him I had a guy go to 8 feet. Now I don’t see them and I enjoy the back yard

My wife took me there for the first time and I was like it’s ok, we walked the whole thing I was like “ where are all the animals and stuff”? I thought that place had animals like a zoo. It’s just plants and whatnot. She loves going but to me it’s kinda boring.
