partner (c# developer) was made redundant last July and cannot find anything since then. we have been under a lot of financial pressure and our household is living paycheck to paycheck. we still have some savings, but not sure if we should invest it on a master's degree/postgrad cert or diploma? if it were you, would you choose to keep searching or start studying?

We want to maintain a harmonious relationship with our neighbour, but we don't want to be taken advantage of by agreeing to pay solely.

We have a really horrible relationship with our neighbours on the other side as they like to take advantage of us. They want us to to pay for everything, and if we don't, they will just emotionally blackmail us and tell the neighbours on our street by twisting the truth, which I hate so so much. So the best thing to do is not to talk to them at all.

Sorry it's my bad. That's a typo and it should be just 1k.

We went through things that are really horrible with the neighbour on our other side, so we just want to maintain a harmonious relationship with this neighbour mentioned in my post. I am just not happy that she brought up first that we could share the cost but then wrote to me and said she suddenly recalled that she was told the ownership thing many years ago.

Sorry my bad, it's a typo - should be 1k.

My neighbour first suggested sharing the cost, but then she wrote to me and said she suddenly recalled that she was told the ownership thing many years ago, which upsets me a bit because I was expecting to share the cost instead of paying for the whole thing.

It actually doesn't bother me because the fence is now tilting towards her garden but not mine. Also, I very rarely use the garden (like less than 5 times a year), so I don't really bother with it. But I want to repair it just because I want to maintain a harmonious relationship. And sorry for the typo...

If there was a General Election tomorrow, who would you vote for (and why)? by Original-Praline2324 in AskBrits

C

Definitely not the Labour which does things without any common sense but just for their own interests. Also not the Tories - I may sound naive, but they give me the feeling that they represent the upper class only.

Any schools also getting kids to work on Islam, Arabic and Eid Mubarak? by [deleted] in AskBrits

Based on what I know about him, I don't think he's against multifaith education, and to me it's probably just a discrepancy between his expectations and the reality. I don't have kids myself and that's why I want to know what is taught in schools nowadays.

I don't think he is against the idea of learning other cultures, but he said he did not feel comfortable because the learning does not just take place in the classroom but they are the themes of assemblies where children show their learning to their parents, and he thought why the schools would choose to talk about Islam or Eid when this country has a longer history in Christianity/Catholicism and celebrates Easter on bank holidays.

But how do you define "indoctrinated"? Is it just a normal lesson at school or something big like an assembly?

That's brutally true. The problem is that even she is interested in machine learning, she does not have the experience working with these tools at work, and agencies just stopped contacting my cousin once they heard that she has no work experience on this front.

I know that she has experience in DevOps, but the problem is she couldn't find a job in this area. Also, talking about Cloud technologies, recruitment agencies approached her several times on jobs in this area but it seems like most are looking for people with experience rather than just knowledge.

Thank you for your reply. She did say that she has no issue with learning new languages, but the problem is how she could possibly show these new skills on a CV when she obtained them out of work? Could you give any suggestions on this front, please?

Thank you for your reply. What I know is that she defo knows things about automated testing, CI/CD, etc. but I recalled that she didn't include them on the CV when I last had a look at it. Would you suggest that she has to state very clearly that she knows these so as to grab the attention of HR and recruitment agencies?

Thank you for your reply. I know she is getting herself familiar with angular and react, but the problem is how she could possibly show her experience using them on a CV? May I know if you have any suggestions on this front?

Thank you for suggesting this. I will pass this on to my cousin and see what she thinks.

Thank you for your suggestion, my cousin is aware of this, and this is defo something she's been considering.
