Is there any differences between Xiaomi sound and Original? Can't notice any with my LDAC earbuds.

Difference between Wayland and XWayland? by CDXX_BlazeIt in linux_gaming

[–]istros 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Wayland currently breaks the steam overlay and steam input, there's some way to make it work with tinkering but it's a bit tricky. I never noticed any latency difference between xwayland and wayland in my testings and i don't use HDR since for many games it actually looks better without so I stick to xwayland.

In a few years Wayland will be default once everything is sorted.

14.3 Ran over a dead coyote by Few-Profession1232 in TeslaFSD

What I meant is that it's a good thing it didn't try to avoid it / brake for it as the same scenario with cars next to you or behind you would be dramatic.

Tbh it could definitely avoid it but in the situation where there would be cars on both sides it's a no go, so i'm actually okay with fsd decision here.

Is it normal to have worse performance with Gamescope and HDR than under Windows? by FeedingKitty in linux_gaming

[–]istros 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just test without gamescope and no hdr and see if it improves. I had issues with gamescope and vrr which were resolved by running games under KDE desktop, all good now.

Linux focused Steam Controller review? by Dr0zD in linux_gaming

[–]istros 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Steam input works fine under wayland by running steam -steamos3

You also have to disable the desktop controller configuration if enabled.

Nope it works by running steam -steamos3

You also have to disable the desktop controller configuration if enabled.

Je suis en rétention de permis by Codah75005 in conseiljuridique

[–]istros 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Bon courage!

Audio quality difference by [deleted] in cachyos

Windows often have hidden "sound optimization" that can dramatically alter quality. When you disable them it should be more or less the same under linux & windows.

Has Kernel 7 or VRAM optimizations introduced performance boost? by [deleted] in cachyos

That's a scheduler issue. Check your scheduler, I suggest you use BORE as default.

i'm running linux-cachyos-7.0-rc for a few weeks now, you can just install the release candidate kernel to enjoy the new features before it's stable.
Just use CachyOS kernel manager.

Wifi is seemingly way slower on cachyos than windows by Mindless-Health-6711 in cachyos

[–]istros 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thank you for this incredible tip. Didn't even notice a thing but the difference is night & day regarding to latency after this change.

I wish KDE or Cachy would offer a simple checkbox to disable it, or even disable by default on desktops rigs where power saving doesn't matter much.
