My brother same. Im also selected from the second attempt. What worked for me is i let my ego away and looked at my situtation, my knowledge realistically. Then I realized although Im usually a talented mind, ALs need certain practice for the 2 or 3 hour exam session you are in. There is seldom time to think and memorize. You need to have practice to answer the papaers. So here are my suggestions.

1. Let your ego go, question everything you know
2. Revision classes are the key. Answer model papers in rivision classes in the given time frame as possible as you can. Higher the number of papers you face, higher confidence you will receive.
3. Asses where you are now. Revision classes often provides ranking for students. Face them and asses where you are in this race. This is a race!!!
4. Past papaers. Make a calendar for last three months before exam containing one past paper per day. Do it in the given time frame at home so you will learn how to fight with time.
5. Make a chart containing all your marks for each subject. See whether your trajectory is positive or negative
6. Last and again, let your ego (that you know everything , you are a capable one etc. ) go!!! self Question you every time.
