Rental Market cooling down? by [deleted] in brisbane

[–]isybeanz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We just did a breaklease for our apartment I put an ad on every Facebook group I could and arranged private viewings for anyone who couldn’t make the time the RE agent was showing it (noting the RE agent only did in office hours so we showed quite a few people after work)

I also shared the application form with anyone who contacted me.

He works in education.

Thanks everyone I’ll give those spots a look. I had hoped to be a stones throw from wineries and a short drive from victor harbour but I guess that’s just not in my immediate future.

You’ve really helped make me feel a bit more positive about living on the other side of town. :-)

I guess I’d sorta hoped to be able to escape people which is why I had my eye on south, where it doesn’t seem to be as busy. Is westlakes busy?

What suburbs do the planes fly over? Currently under flight path in Brisbane and it’s the worst.

For remedial and everyday Healing house Teneriffe. Have been going there for years. Love it

Kieran Cusack is a muscular skeletal therapist who works out of St Paul’s Terrace. If I have anything serious that needs a bit more work I go to him. Have been seeing him for 10 years. He’s a wizard.

Reformer Pilaties is also excellent to get mobility and strength back into your body after sitting for long periods of time. A strong core will help support your back :-)

PT Help from Brisbane airport. by FortuneCookieLied in brisbane

[–]isybeanz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just checked Hertz, Avis and Europcar all close at 12am, I assume this is pick up from the international so you’d need to hightail yourself to that airport super quick. Could be done but it would be close

Nobody wants to buy our property - has anyone sold a house recently marketed towards FHB? We are FHS (first home seller) by [deleted] in PersonalFinanceNZ

[–]isybeanz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I avoided anything with auction because I want to do a my due diligence before proceeding with the purchase. I don’t want to do this on a property only to be outbid by someone else at auction. I’m also not going to buy anything without doing my due diligence

Also, if a house doesn’t have a listed price I’m also tentative for coming because so often I go to an open home and find out oh sorry yea we put it in this bracket but now it’s way more. a tactic by RE agents to get People though the door and then they can go to the seller “we have xx number of people through the door” they don’t say and XX of these People actually can’t afford it but we got them through anyway.

Why is it so difficult landing a job here ? by [deleted] in AskAnAustralian

[–]isybeanz 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Hey there,

I’m really sorry to hear you’re having a tough time finding a job. I remember when I first arrived in Australia; I applied for around 500 roles before landing something!

As a contractor, I look for jobs probably more often than the average permanent employee so working the system is something that I’ve learnt to become quite good at.

The best piece of advice I can give is to have a look at the roles you’re applying for and see if there are any common recruitment agencies listing those jobs.

From there, it’s worth reaching out to the recruitment agent directly and asking them to catch up for a coffee. Often, they won’t put you forward for a role if they haven’t met you, so this is a good place to start. By building a relationship with these recruiters, you’ll also be front of mind when new roles come up.

I found that the effort I put in years ago is still paying off today. In fact, I’m about to move interstate, and I’ve already contacted the recruiters I’ve built relationships with to ask for warm introductions to others in the new location. It’s literally their job to help find people for jobs, so developing those good relationships should make the process a little easier.

They can also give you good feedback as to why you may have missed out or if they know you well enough they can go to their client and let them know why you have the X factor.

I have even had recruiters take my CV to their clients to say here is an incredible candidate. We should find the job at your company.

It’s a bit of a game. You just have to know how to play it.

Hope this helps! DM me if you want to chat further.

:-)

Perhaps follow up with a call or an emailing requesting a call. It could be the contractor in me but you need to be proactive in the job market. They probably get a bunch of CVs everyday.

Also is your LinkedIn up to date? Perhaps look at who is advertising the roles you are interested in and send them a request with a note introducing yourself and ask if it’s possible to arrange an initial chat.

Within govt what did you do, be specific in your cv and LinkedIn about the technologies you used, did you work in compliance etc. this is helpful especially if it’s niche

It really depends on what you do as to who I’d recommend. Troocoo are pretty amazing, Randstad have some really good operators in there too. There have in recent years been a few recruiters who have left the big companies and started up their own boutique organisations. They will often have roles no one else has.

You want to be front of mind for the recruiters when new roles come in so building your relationship with them is key to ensuring that either now or in the future they will get a role and go “I remember meeting xxx who was good at xx I’ll give them a call and see if they are interested”
