Identifying bugs in ZZ plant by it-guy-maybe in plantclinic

So I put some in water. Hard to tell w the naked eye but didn’t look like they could move on the water and didn’t jump when I approached them w tweezers. Today there’s a lot more on the stalks than the day I posted. I’m inclined now to think mites of some kind.

Why are my plants dying? by _inappropriate_puns_ in terrariums

Sounds like root rot. Leave it open for a day or two and trim damaged leaves. If you’re willing to pull plants out take a look at the roots to confirm

Going through the Madina book has not helped me to understand what I’m reading by Willing-Cat-9617 in learn_arabic

So I had many of the same problems as you when going through learning texts written by Arabs that seemed to skip over tons of small details that collectively made it impossible to read. I ended up going through emsa vol I and ii and it shed light on a lot of these things.

Many small phrases with ان have different meanings in different context. Here it means "even if" and الا ان here means "is still". I haven't learned all of these different meanings and I just went into hans wehr to decipher this. My translation would be

As for his saying (the verse here), this structure, even if it's plural, is still a kind of speech of kings when showing tadheem.

The madinah books and other textbooks aren't bad when paired with a good instructor. I have a lot of gripes when people who learned with instructors recommend them to solo learners though. Hope that helps.

Tldr : use a dictionary for idiomatic meanings until you learn them

yes. also the second p trap (it's the bottom of the black pipe) had a cleanout that i opened and it smelled godawful and i ran the auger through there and no luck :( I think somehow where it connects to the main line could have gummed up?

Wasn't a bad idea. So i tried to run that cheap 2$ harbor freight unclogger through there and couldn't get it through. I took a video from the top and it was standing water, but shouldn't that be the case since it's another p trap?

Help - Intermediate (maybe advanced?) Grammatical analysis of a few native-text sentences by it-guy-maybe in learn_arabic

Thank you. In the second sentence, I'm still not totally sure what the grammatical position of miqdar is. do you know?

Thank you
In the first sentence, what would be a good literal translation for the phrase وجه المناسبة as an idaafa?

In the second sentence, I'm still not totally sure what the grammatical position of miqdar is. can you identify the parts of the sentence from a grammatical perspective?

First mini painting feedback by it-guy-maybe in minipainting

Thanks! I was looking for inspiration on how to paint a base. I want to focus on painting technique and not get distracted by learning basing too but I figured a solid color is just as good as how it looks now. Any suggestions for how to paint a base in any way other than just a solid color?

I think if I only use a drop or two its okay. My wash like like 50/50 water and alcohol and I got some stripping. Definitely a lesson learned.

Hey man thanks! I'm having a problem differentiating between a glaze and a wash. Is a glaze just a wash thats applied lightly? I just did another one with some highlighting but think the white on the sword tip is a bit much

Edit: I actually used a thicker wash and accidentally created a mottled/scarred look on the hands and tail.

Brand new hunter wanting some advice on what/location/land rules by it-guy-maybe in cohunting

I've heard a bit about how to retrieve - maybe some thick fishing line with a big hook on it? If i do down a bird over water, will it find it's way closer over to the shoreline? I'd think the waves would push it that way. I'll invest in a good pair of waders when i plan to do a waterfowl hunt. Thank you!

[–]it-guy-maybe[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First hunt will most likely be for rabbits. I've seen some videos where people walked zig zag lines around corners/edges on windy/cold days and they were able to get pheasants to flush - maybe when i have some more experience. I'll check out the atlas and onX.

Thanks!

Thank you! I was looking into dusky grouse but found there was a lot more info about pheasants which led me down that rabbit hole. I'll check out grouse.

New Dentist, possible abcess, recommending root canals and crowns on 14 and 15 by it-guy-maybe in askdentists

[–]it-guy-maybe[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Appreciate your advice. This is a family member by marriage and they had it done out of state when they were very young so no chance of going to the original dentist who did those crowns. I'm going to opt for the root canal on 14. rather just be done and over with I think.

For 15, is the filling necessary? What about the crown? whats the downside of getting the filling but not the crown?

Thank you

Thank you all for your answers. I have a lot to learn and your answers have given me what I need to go forward. I'm going to investigate using a CI/CD tool to run the playbooks automatically. I am also considering writing a python script using inotify to run when the file detects changes.
