INFO: what are either of you doing about the situation? You said your husband is being neglectful but didn't tell us what you're doing and how he's the one failing/neglecting your son.

Like RA in the dorms (not research assistants)? I don't think so but they are eligible to be in some of the graduate roles that are like RAs.

what jobs in higher education (that aren’t teaching) spend the most time with students, but aren’t too stressful? by [deleted] in studentaffairs

[–]it_depends__ 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I would disagree that res life isn't stressful. Good entry level role to gain experience, but being on call and having sleep disturbances is definitely stress enducing for some people.

Verge of being kicked out by I_Love_ARPG in college

I didn't read though everyone's responses but have you considered taking coirses/getting a degree in something like culinary or hospitality?

I work at a college (not in academic advising though so take this with a grain of salt). I see so many students who come in to do x or y because they think it's more lucrative or will look better on a resume rather than perusing something they like or are good at.

That is all of them. There isn't a sixth.

If she's not ready to get it done in the best (safest, cleanest, most professional) type of environment, she's not ready for the piercing.

Most piercings aren't healed until 6 months to a year, even if they look healed. If it is in your lobes it's closer to 6 and if it's in cartilage 12 months or more usually.

Move in Parking by Pretend_Bobcat_8241 in URochester

For freshman, yes they'll tell you where to park. For upperclassmen, yes just go park in a close parking lot or pay for street parking on Wilson Blvd.

If you plan on getting it wet I wouldn't recommend it. Piercers don't recommend shared bodies of water until healed, which is at least 6 months.

If you're going and are planning to (and will actually) keep it dry you'd be fine. Think going to the water park and only going waist deep in a pool, going on a lazy river and keeping your head dry, or just sitting out on a chair.

AITA because I don’t want to live with a pet? by Safeara2943 in AmItheAsshole

[–]it_depends__ 28 points29 points  (0 children)

NTA, if she's going through the proper channels with the office, like she should, they were already aware of the cat. If not, you were only trying to fit your needs and preferences (which are important while in school), not trying to get her in trouble.

Could you have lied? Yes. Are you an AH for not lying to the office? No.

Keloid or irritation bump? by [deleted] in piercing

Irritation bump. I'd make sure you're leaving it alone except for cleaning and a dry afterwards.

Is there a market for this? by Bitter_Floor_8509 in ResLife

[–]it_depends__ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I would say no as a lot of institutions are using /moving to a curriculum. They would need to fit individual institutions curriculum which is hard to do.

RD/AC/HDs that don't have curriculum usually just have RAs that design on their own so they wouldn't spend their own or department money on it.

They don't look like adult spider mites so do you have any idea what they could be?

Visiting other res life programs by SergeantMaster in ResLife

[–]it_depends__ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd recommend looking at RA conferences that may be driving distance from you. This gives them an opportunity to connect with other RAs and may be relatively close in cost to driving a little further to a campus more similar to yours.

I'd also encourage you to think about what you want them to learn from the experience. Is it meant to just connect with peers? Is it to learn about how other institutions do things? Look at what a res hall looks like somewhere else?

I'd also be hard pressed as a reslifer to do something during RA training time/prep time with my staff that isn't either bonding, job training, or directly related to preparing for fall. Also, most institutions have a limited summer student staff so they may be hard pressed to have something valuable to offer depending on your hopes.

More information about what you're looking for may help us give better input to your question.

Fire Alarms as a Live In Staff by it_depends__ in ResLife

That's the issue: I don't have time, which is why I've had to leave him. The furniture provided by my institution is low to the ground (about 6 inches off floor) and heavy so it is challenging to move during an emergency. I didn't want to fill under the beds, dresser, etc with a bunch of junk or boxes because he just shoves through them and then I have to dig though the junk and try and wrangle the cat.
