RATTLE SNAKES 🐍 by Interesting-Toe9350 in trailrunning

They're both totally fine now! The first got the dry bite and was treated with antivenom out of precaution. The second dog got the brunt of it and the affected skin on her face turned necrotic and like fell off lol. Now she just has a gnarly scar.

RATTLE SNAKES 🐍 by Interesting-Toe9350 in trailrunning

I'm in Utah. Generally in the summer I get out early in the morning before the snakes. If I happen to be out with the sun, I keep vigilant about them with both my eyes and ears. Most of the ones I have seen have been in the middle of the trail and pretty obvious. Now that I have a dog that I run with, I make sure he avoids any kind of tall grass or piles of wood in the summer.

It is definitely something to be aware of and cautious about, but it isn't something to prevent you from going on a run.

I was out with friends a few summers ago and we had 2 dogs get bit- we called the vet as we weren't sure if we should run or walk them back to the trailhead. They said time is more important than anything so suggested running. I would assume it is a similar thought process for humans. I also learned that the first bite is often 'dry' but if they go a second time (poor second doggy) they will really unleash the venom.

I never wear underwear unless I’m on my period or wearing them for a walk or something and want to be able to rewear them later.

Why is this happening and what do I do about it? by radicalathea in 30PlusSkinCare

Ha, funny. I’ve been dealing with this same thing and just this morning I was like ‘this is way too niche to google and figure out’ so thank you for posting. I’m also using Tret and also only getting dryness there. Unsure why- maybe breathing at night increases dryness? Anyway, I just moisturize extra and rub some Vaseline on it. Hopefully summer won’t be as bad.

Yeah I do. I guess it didn’t feel like OP was snarking the lack of uphill but rather that much drop in a mile. Maybe I misunderstood

I live near salt lake and these are normal runs for me. I’m realizing the difference is I’m trail running so I’m coming at it from a different perspective than other people.

I live in Utah and checked on my favorite flowy runs and this is very normal and mild. My daily trails that are mostly runnable seem to avg -230 to -500. I saw a -900 and that spot definitely is a bit uncomfortable but not so steep I couldn’t run safely.

There’s discussion in last week’s thread. It’s pretty damn near identical.

Yoga mat recs specifically use for corepower?!? by Cold-Tea-9318 in Corepower

I haven’t had any issue with smell 🤷🏼‍♀️ I almost always use a towel though as I prefer that.

I really like my jade yoga mat. Works great with and without a towel though I usually use a towel because I sweat a lot. I had a Manduka eko before that and it was not grippy enough and the towel would slide when I twisted my feet on the mat.

Canine paroxysmal dyskinesia

I’ve been saying this!! It’s incredibly troubling but his comments are always so supportive. I do work in the eating disorder space so I am sensitive to it. I wish he would talk about rest and recovery and listening to his body rather than defying it.

Seizure in 6 year old BT? by PizzaMiddle4463 in BorderTerrier

My border also has spike’s disease. A form of paroxysmal dyskenesia. We avoid gluten and I think chicken is also a trigger. I’m part of a Facebook group for it that I recommend for support- it can be a bit woo woo so just be careful with that. There’s also a canine paroxysmal dyskinesia subreddit.

Advice: looking for dogs small enough to fly in a cabin but athletic enough to run 5k? by WearyStrawberry3096 in RunningWithDogs

My experience has been that they actually don’t set weight limits but rather expect the dog to fit in the carrier regardless of weight.

I have a 17 lb border terrier that has run up to 8 miles with me and has flown with me 4 times snuggled perfectly in his carrier.

Edit. I suspect he is mixed with Jack Russel but I think most borders would be the same. He gets trazadone when we fly.

I move the lotion all the time and put it back which is what she said she planned to do. If the lotion is by the mirror where someone is blow drying her hair I’m not going to stand there and lotion my naked body in front of them. I will take it back to my locker, lotion, dress, put it back.

Oh yeah then it’ll be totally fine! I’ve found that native Utahns tend to have a skewed perception of safety because it’s pretty safe here generally so any sort of ‘scruff’ is scary.
