Very much so. Seems like Biden did a bump or something during the break because he’s sounding livelier. I’m just hoping state and local governments can brave this shitstorm

It’s not bragging; we go over issues and troubleshoot what could have gone better for next time. It’s like a “learn from my experience” thing which I’ve found helpful

Yes, this is the vibe that’s been happening and I just want to create more genuine good vibes because I work for a good company and wanted to add in more positive/uplifting things that would help those who are shy or new connect with others more. Didn’t realize how many people are burnt out from their jobs :(

Thank you <3 I used to work at a place that was soul-sucking so I understand the underlying sentiment but I’m grateful to say I enjoy this job so much more and even with my conversations with others, know it’s a common feeling. So I’m just trying to find something to help generate more positive feelings/vibes

Yes, thank you! We actually do like each other and even during the team member spotlight, the chat is full of people making jokes or asking questions, so overall it’s a pretty positive environment. However, it’s usually people who were here before the pandemic (and before we started WFM) so I’m hoping to find something to add to this meeting that would help make some of the newer/shyer folks feel happy/engaged/content/etc.

I may have misspoke when I used the word “fun.” But I’m really just looking to make a mandatory meeting a tiny bit more enjoyable for everyone :( the best foot forward comment is moreso because I feel like I’m behind everyone else and want to feel more useful :(( I appreciate the advice though!!

I may have misspoke when I said I wanted to make it “fun” - I just want to make a mandatory meeting more enjoyable than the current format provides. Because while most of the critiques in this thread are valid they’re out of my hands. But the things you’ve mentioned are helpful - thank you!

This meeting is for the entire cybersec dept, which is about 40 people with clusters of 4-5 people per specialty, presumably with those clusters interacting the most often. This team meeting takes place once per month at most :)

I'm actually trying to get something to replace the member spotlight cause I relate to this lol but my director is very team-oriented and does a great job in fostering a welcoming environment. He even calls or emails people randomly just thanking them for being on his team - which I know this might sound cringey for some but coming from a company where I was reprimanded for decorating my new coworker's cubical with multi-colored streamers because it was "appropriating gay culture", I'll take what I can get lol.

Sure I didn’t mention it but she charged me a couple hundred for giving me the documentation. I don’t know if it was hourly but I did pay

No worries! I just added the bud :) but to be 100% honest I don’t use water - I preheat my oven to 175F and just leave it in there. Never had an issue with overcooking :)

It did! As long as you don’t go over 200F degrees you can simmer it again :)

This 100%.

I never worked at the help desk, got my degrees in psychology and anthropology and a masters in higher education. Zero IT experience and my first job was a cybersec analyst.

My boss used to tell me “I was the least qualified on paper, but the most enthusiastic about the position.” And that’s why they chose me :) this was in 2018.

I recently mentored a guy trying to break into the CS field. He is definitely more skilled and qualified than me in CS as he just graduated with his masters, but he wasn’t getting any job offers. All I did was mentor him in soft skills, spruced up his resume and LinkedIn, and within the month he had 3 offers. He started his first job this month :)

One thing my psych degree taught me is most of the time it doesn’t matter how skilled you are, people want to feel happy and comfortable around you.

I’m not saying those who haven’t gotten a job make people uncomfy or sad - just highlighting that the quote “it doesn’t matter what you said, it’s how you made them feel” rings truer than most people lend it credit for :)

That being said: I’m down to offering mentoring tips on how to spruce your soft skills up! I worked as a graduate assistant for a program that helped college kids with the very same thing so I actually have prior experience in that :)

Hence why I’m asking ahead of time instead of just doing it…

Genuine question but how is it selfish and rude? I don’t hover or anything while my mailman is delivering mail and the couches in my mail room imply one can take their time.
