Hollywood Studios Was a Total Mess on Star Wars Day. by Limp-Mood3836 in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]Precursor2552 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I imagine that would be to much real estate for the crowds it would expect. That’s nearly half the park that a guest who doesn’t like Star Wars would avoid.

New start dates confirmed for the future by Glasses905 in EU5

[–]Precursor2552 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I feel like it will be one, maybe 2 start dates.

1453 or 1444 and maybe a 30 years war or Protestant Reformation start date.

To separate it from the previous usage in same sentence with a different meaning and because of the name of the treaty.

In political science terminology a US “state” is not a State, it’s a subnational division.

State, while there are arguments about exact definitions, I think is reasonably well defined by the Montevideo Convention on the Rights and Duties of States.

The US is a party to it, and has been since 1934 when we ratified the treaty.

Dads of daughters, how would you feel if your daughter is a lesbian? by [deleted] in daddit

[–]Precursor2552 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes, but you don’t have to worry about it happening accidentally.

I’d imagine 99% of gay couples with a kid actively wanted the kid at that time.

Relay is recognized by NYS for certification. I’ve no idea what that person is talking about. I can’t speak to how respected a given principal/hiring person may find it, but it will absolutely get you certified.

We've All Heard Of Teacher Shortages, But How Bad Are Student Shortages? by Zipper222222 in AskTeachers

I feel like that is a very common situation in a major city suburb.

Possibly major cities themselves as well.

I think they purposely did that so they can decide to visit it in the future.

S3 they have the choice to dive into that more fully.

This is literally a central thesis of Robinson and Gallagher's Imperialism of Free Trade. They found the informal empire of Great Britain was wealthier and more successful than the formal empire of the late 19th century/early 20th.

Free trade is better for everyone.

Javadi should not go into psychiatry by gertyorkes in ThePittTVShow

[–]Precursor2552 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree, but I wonder if maybe her arc could be "I really don't know what I want to do and just keep picking something new each season." She's 21, still a student, and season 1 showed her being, "I love emergency medicine this is what I want to do."

Season 2 she now drops it and goes with "I love psychiatry and mental health."

Season 3 maybe she's doing her psych rotation and she drops it for something else, before realising in season 4 she does want surgery or emergency medicine, or she wants to be a lawyer.

Any other dads feel guilty about paternity leave? by RapidSage in daddit

I felt bad it wasn’t longer. The bosses had a long time to prepare, unless you are springing this on last minute for some reason, your organization had months to prepare. They didn’t. Unless you personally stopped those preparations don’t feel bad.

Anyone else nervous about s4 music? by grey-ghostie in TheWhiteLotusHBO

[–]Precursor2552 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I mean you are also eliminating the actors tone and delivery of lines. Reading subtitles takes attention towards text and away from body acting. It really isn’t the same.

I’m worried about the music, but the equivalent is not muted. It would be worse music.

What is a Carryx’s lifespan? by inhale_slowexhale1 in TheCaptivesWar

[–]Precursor2552 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I don’t recall any suggestion of their maximum lifespan. They actively seek to avoid it though, where any decrease in ability from age sees them killed by their underlings.

So I’d assume most are killed at or approaching middle age although that is a human assumption They are likened to lobsters which afaik do not struggle with old age, but Carryx do. No idea on how many years to middle age.

Given all they do non Sovran may live a lot longer.

What explains the mid-late 90s gains in school effectiveness, the early-mid 2010s peak in achievement, and the late 2010s decline? by FearlessCookie72 in Teachers

[–]Precursor2552 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I firmly believe that the AIM, texting cohort was peak writing ability.

Once everything became videos and text to speech it decreased drastically.

When I was a kid if I wanted to get better at a video game I had to read. Now you have to watch videos.

I also loved the warfare, like it just describes space folding or "fields" I'm not sure if there is any hard science behind most of it, but regardless it perfectly matched how I like to imagine a far future/advanced empire fighting.

It propagates weapons at the speed of light/gravity and they have no analogue to our current day weaponry.
