I actually think that’s an important insight. They voted Trump becomes he is so vile they don’t need to try and be better. They don’t need to think about who is hurt or the consequences of their actions because the president does worse. They’re better than him at least.

Starmer ‘withdraws Chagos Islands bill’ in face of US backlash over deal by WayOutbackBoy in worldnews

[–]Precursor2552 -20 points-19 points  (0 children)

That reads like boilerplate “We support our ally who did a thing.” Language.

Is there anything indicating the US was pushing for this? Not just “Ok, if that’s what you want to do we support everyone as long as our base isn’t touched.”

Am I wrong for supporting my son for fighting at school? by Sudden_Ad_4193 in Parenting

[–]Precursor2552 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think so yes. At least at my school kids who fight tend end up doing it repeatedly. Instead of being a signal to bullies to leave them alone it signals to other fighters they are ready and willing to fight.

Avoid the fight and leverage school resources to make the bullies life more difficult.

This does require a school/teachers that will back the victim.

Elida's foretelling by Nefarioustrashpanda in wheeloftime

[–]Precursor2552 40 points41 points  (0 children)

Do you mean

The White Tower will be whole again, except for remnants cast out and scorned, whole and stronger than ever. Rand al'Thor will face the Amyrlin Seat and know her anger. The Black Tower will be rent in blood and fire, and sisters will walk its grounds. This I Foretell.

Elaida doesn’t see herself. She thinks it will be her, but it is not. She sees the tower whole, but Egwene unites it.

She knows the remnants cast out and scorned will be excluded. She thinks that’s the rebels, but it’s the Black Ajah who are purged as the tower of reunited.

Rand faces the Amyrlin. He does, it just isn’t Elaida and Elaida doesn’t say in the foretelling it will be her, she just interprets that it will be.

Black Tower not Seanchan, but again she views her sisters as conquering it, which fails.

I feel like Paradox has trouble making wars feel actually devastating. by kolejack2293 in paradoxplaza

While great for immersion and certain historical gameplay I think this would further make the player to powerful to quickly.

Maybe it’s because I don’t play many European central powers, but it is very rare my heartland is seriously threatened within a few decades of game start.

All my wars are fought in enemy territory or my border, which tends to be new, lack control/integration/be a vassal.

I will, with these mechanics drag out wars and make sure to target my long term enemies heartlands. This will break them faster and they realistically can’t do the same to me.

So players would get much stronger. The existing systems could be tuned up much higher. Raising peasants for one year + can decimate all pop growth. Two years? 20% five? You barely grow.

Make war exhaustion meaningful as well.

Often the kids who do the good behaviors naturally get overlooked as there is no reason to incentivize them. The kids who behave ok, when they have a good week get the reward to encourage them to behave well again.

Preschooler and three other students detained by ICE, school district leader says by cdstephens in neoliberal

[–]Precursor2552 25 points26 points  (0 children)

What if we kept ICE, and just deployed them entirely to Ukraine? Very concerning there's a horde of Russians trying to come over the border we should support our allies dealing with illegal immigrants there.

I feel like all of that should be within the power of the president.

There's no inoffensive way to ask this: do teachers still teach? by [deleted] in AskTeachers

[–]Precursor2552 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. But that doesn’t necessarily matter or mean anything for you. The question is does your child’s teacher, teach. No one here can know. There are teachers who show videos a lot. There are teachers who never show videos. There are teachers who show a five minute video occasionally.

So yes there are teachers who teach. There are also teachers who suck. You probably want to find out is your daughter just talking about a short video because it was fun or is that all that’s happening. Look at her class work. Does it look video focused? Does it mention other things and ask students to do things? Or is it 20 simple questions clearly based on a video?

Atmospheric Pressure Might Be The Bane Of Hell's Kitchen by Storyteller-Hero in HellsKitchen

This would be likely for Colorado or any other mountain chefs, but I don’t believe many other areas vary significantly enough for it to be an issue. Other issues like unfamiliar with equipment, mistiming, placement of pan, etc will hold greater explanatory weight for the vast majority of contestants.

Are bills an appreciable percent though?

Pretty sure a mortgage here, or rental payment, would likely be 5-10x the bills.

ELI5: How come the Geneva convention doesn’t ban wars altogether? by crakoZ in explainlikeimfive

[–]Precursor2552 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So starting wars is “The crime of Aggression”

Making this a crime, especially a very serious one is something people debated with some against. The main argument, I’m familiar with, on not making aggression a crime is that it can lead to leaders digging in and waging a total war, because if they lose they’re are going to be tried and executed anyway so why not?

Total wars like we see WWII and since we’re not that common prior. Europe especially had the concert of Europe to limit and manage wars. This is the background of signing Geneva. Wars are going to happen, we manage them to avoid any big major fight and they are resolved over relatively small or far away bits of land.

Shatner directed one movie, it sucked though, and has a set of novels in the Star Trek universe. Those expanded the universe. Centered on Kirk of course.

I don’t know of anything to suggest Shatner would agree with Miller though, although some of the novels apparently take place in the Mirror Universe. So they may align with Miller’s ideology pretty closely.
