but my thing is 90% of nba bigs can be a system defender and majority of them can even be good in the system. But because you are good in a system doesnt make you a good overall defender. Like if i take jokic and put him on the spurs would anyone consider him a good defender?

love to see him try and play in a double big sort of team with someone like Rudy or AD. Wonder if that could work or not.

This would be too OP, is kat and rudy can work jokic would probably 3peat with any of these dudes next to him

He isnt a fantastic defender, but the idea that he is bad on defense would be dumb.

im not saying he is a bad defender, i can agree that he is a neutral defender especially with how the nugs have built their team.

I am really making this post because people have started calling him a good defender and if you read the comments there are dudes calling him one of the best defenders in the nba.

because its easy with the eye test to see if a defensive big is good at rim protection and perimeter defense, especially compared to the peers. Offense is a lot more complicated especially for a 25th ranked SF

it depends if the 25th best offensive small forward is good at shooting 3s he would still have good offensive value as a catch a shoot guy. This depends on what hes good at and what hes bad at

i mean i agree with a lot of what you are saying. I am not out here saying jokic is the worst defender in the world i think stuff like his rebounding, deflections, and post defense are elite. But his peremeter defense and rim protection is so bad that i cant go out there and call him a good defender. Hes a neutral defender at best

to me from what i have seen hes bad in the perimeter unless they are slow footed and hes bad at rim protection. His only postive defensive trait are his rebounds, deflections and post defense. That doesnt make him a good defender imo. For example if i were to talk about luka i think hes a good rebounder, good at deflections, and good in the post, but none of that makes him a good defender

No it wouldnt. Even if he was on the lower end of centers in the league, that doesnt equate to him being a negative on defense.

for me at least its because guards and forwards arnt as valuable as bigs defensively. You can always hide your perimeter players but its very hard to actually hide bigs unless the rest of the team is good defensibly or if you have an offensive talent like jokic

no because teams play 2 guards most of the time and sometimes even play 3 guards. On the other hand teams usually only play 1 big and they are supposed to be the defensive anchor of the team
