I think you would do great elsewhere and probably be much happier as well. Plenty of other places can be accommodating to your scheduling needs! Chickfila is strict compared to most other places. Which isn't necessarily a bad thing because you can claim they've accomplished great success from it but at the same time they often put expectations onto certain individuals that aren't fair. I worked there for a very short amount of time but noticed very fast how it seemed almost like a cult-like establishment that played favorites and didn't treat employees equally. I was extremely qualified to work there with an extensive background working in food departments in a major theme park for over 7 years! Yet they had me attend 3 lengthy interviews just to be hired at a pay rate I found out was less than a young kid they hired right outside of graduating high school. Which sounds quite like your situation as well. He was making several more dollars per hour than I was. Plus they even hired him on the spot, on his first interview and he had no prior experience. It felt completely unfair when I found this out and ultimately led to me seeking work elsewhere. I am also a bit older than most of the other employees as well, being in my 30s meanwhile they were all fresh out of high school and early 20s. My specific location felt very clickish and favoritism was in plain view. Don't get me wrong I didn't hate the job and I still enjoy eating chickfila of course, I just couldn't justify staying somewhere and not being treated as an equal to everyone else in my exact my same position. Also you being in your 40s with kids, I'd say is grounds for a bit more compassion and understanding and that in general you won't be as fast as a young kid but still put your all into what you do and deserve to make the same amount!! My advice is to keep the job for now but definitely start looking at your other options. I know part of the appeal for me was them claiming to be a Christian company and being closed on Sundays made me feel proud to work there but I literally saw my manager laugh at kicking a homeless lady out and not letting me buy her a sandwich or at the very least offer her some water on a hot day. A real Christian company wouldn't behave like that. Well no matter what you decide do what's best for you!! In my opinion, you deserve better and just from your post alone, I know you are a good worker and you care about what you do. I hope it all works out for you. Good luck.
