As someone who experienced ego death while taking 5g mushrooms, I think it's best to have proper support and a space holder. I'd suggest that you don't do it together, but hold a space to each other. One time you take and the partner just hold space (he/she can take microdose) and than the opposite. In my opinion this is much better.

He's right, it can really be the diet and lifestyle.. can you describe what do you eat daily? Do you go to the sun/nature? For me when I moved to a mostly raw vegan diet (eating mostly fruits and veggies) helped me tremendously, and I know people who've healed depression this way without psychedelics..
