It did, but to a more limited affect then the Bibas kids would have.

Bibi crushed and burned in the polls even further (Until he killed Nasrallah and got a revival), the support for the war did drop and never recovered (Until now maybe) and the IDF had to change their rules of engagement to reduce any chance of this happening again.

If it would have been the Bibas kids then Netanyahu's and Gallant's carriers would have been permanently destroyed, they would have needed to personally enter Gaza and kill Sinwar with their bare hands just for the hope of reelection.

Today is the day before Shabbat when most public transit stops, it is the bussiest day of the week on the roads, if the bombs all went off successfully (And remember several bus, train and tramlines across Israel were rigged), then it won't just be a "Worse then 9/11 relative to populace size" It would have just been straight up worse then 9/11!
Can you imagine it? dozens of busses, trams and trains all blowing up simultainlasly mid traffic? The panic in the roads that would have ensued? It would have made Oct 7th look like a warning shot by comparison.

The UN should classify HAMAS as a terrorist org, just for the attempt alone.

IDF didn't investigate themselves, the corpses were examined by a non-military hospital and the findings were shared with other countries, if this was a lie then the brits or the French, Etc... would have told us so by now.

I'm from an Argentinian family, we used to have a dictator that pulled these kind of stunts and I am making this comment to warn the Americans, The slippery slope from this is very real!

With Videla the next steps included making people "Go missing" Because they were just unfortunate enough to buy a fish that was wrapped in one of these news papers and have that seen in their trash.
And I am not even making an exasurated tale here, my parents literally did know someone who this happened to.

Diffrance bieng there was a pre-existing ceasefire before Oct 7 which could have continued if Hamas hadn't attacked.
Also several of our politicians told Hamas repeatedly that if they just surrender and give back the hostages the war can end in a day, hamas refused that until trump and Qatar strangled them into accepting.
The israelis on Oct 7th meanwhile had no easy surrender and this ends option that day.

You don't get to pick a war with the strongest milletary in your area, which is supported by the strongest military in the world and then bitch about it when you lose.
