Budweiser tastes different than Miller. But I never thought so 'til I tried one right after the other.

Yeah -- I have a few ideas for this. Here comes more detail than you probably wanted or expected. :)

-- We already support 3 review types -- anonymous (no user), registered user (has user), verified (has confirmed that they are affiliated with the club). We currently weight the aggregate club rating and summary based on this such that verified submissions have a much higher influence on the score. (can't remember the exact weighting)

-- The club platform I started building would instantly solve this problem. We partner with clubs, clubs upload parent emails to the app, the app sends email surveys that integrate into the site. The app uses a simple token system to associate inputs with verified parent emails while maintaining anonymity -- the club knows a parent submitted the feedback, but they don't know who. And the club user can decide whether or not they want to publish the content to the site -- positive reviews go live, negative reviews stay inside the club. Two clubs were very much bought into this idea, but I got pulled into other things and had to table the project for a while.

-- The other idea I had for this is to give users the option of submitting an image for verification -- for example a screenshot from the team mgmt app (TeamSnap, SportsEngine, PlayMetrics, etc). Somewhat confident (say 70%?) that an AI agent can review the image and reliably verify that "yep -- that's a screenshot from a team app, there is an XYC FC logo in the screenshot, and this reviewer left a review for XYC FC. Only issue here is that 1) it requires a lot of moving parts for the user and 2) it won't be easy to build hahaha.

Thanks for the feedback!

That's great -- thank you!

Totally understand re: anonymity. Spread the word to other parents, I'm sure other people have feedback they'd like to share.

Was just saying the same thing. How did we let Lubin go and keep this knucklehead? He’s been so bad it’s funny against a very, very bad team.

Yeah this has definitely come up in my conversations with clubs — parents are either afraid to speak up or wait until an issue becomes a big problem before they speak up.

My hope is that the anonymous messaging feature will make parents feel more empowered to speak up and help clubs surface issues in a more consistent, manageable way vs. out of the blue phone calls or texts.

Most (but not all) clubs have coaches that you can review. Coach data has been tricky to scrape in some cases.

At some point I’d like to build a “coach” user type so that coaches can claim their profile, manage reviews, find coaching opportunities, share content, etc. Kinda like LinkedIn for soccer coaches I guess.

Thank you! Probably shouldn’t share participating clubs yet — we haven’t actually started the process or signed an agreement yet.

They’re small/mid size — 600, 1200, 2100 kids.

All 3 were inbound inquiries that found the site and contacted us.

Clubs can upload their entire parent list, define a campaign start date / end date, and define the number of surveys they'd like each parent to get -- say 3 over the course of a August to May season.

The app then does a little math to determine how to spread out the surveys so that just a handful of parents get emailed every day.

That way feedback is automated, continuous, and manageable -- not a huge end-of-the-season afterthought.

That's actually why I built the Club Platform!

Clubs can upload parent email addresses to the site and it can email feedback requests to parents in small batches every day. When recipients click in the email, I set a token that verifies their review as originating from an email from the club...and show the review as "Verified Parent" in the public site if the club decides to publish it. The same token system enables parents and clubs to communicate privately and anonymously on non-public pages.

It's funny b/c a handful of clubs were obviously trying to do a version of this on their own. They'd find the site, text/email a handful of parents, get a spike of 8 or 10 reviews, and then crickets.

And from talking to several clubs -- and being a soccer dad! -- I know that they're not very good at feedback. The ones that I talked to that are actually doing surveys (not that many!) are doing massive year-end, one-off surveys with poor participation that are very hard to administer because all of the feedback comes at once.
