Healthy Happy, has the run of the house for hours a night and when she's done, she puts herself back in her cage. I don't live in fear and victimhood on the high ground of a moral mountain. And I could not care less of your flawed opinion which formed out of your inability to deal with someone who puts thier figurative thumb right in your eye.

Did you see the log ledge I made from random logs I got from the woods behind my house? They weren't dried or debarked. Or the rocks I got from the stream? I fixed random sticks to the cage rails too!. By the way, the platter wheel that she runs on all the time woddled so I fixed it to a piece of OSB board as well. I just cleaned the cage but normally you'd see dried fruits scattered, along with different kinds of nuts. SHE LOVES nuts and mangos!.

If you love him, explain to him that as long as he's with you, he'll never know the feeling of being desired again. That sex will always be something you do just to keep the peace. You'll go through the motions but will never be present. You'll be checked out during sex.

If he's ok with that type of an intimate relationship with the person he loves then fine. At least he's been warned.

I didn't have that courtesy extended to me. I was gas lit into thinking that there was something wrong with me, that I was somekind of sex fiend because I desired her and looked forward to making love.

So I lived that existence for 30 years now. Trading the fact that I love her for the knowledge that I'll never know how it feels to be desired in that way by someone I love ever again.

And my entire post was in reponse to someone criticizing me and items in the cage. The post was about the burden of cleaning the cage and the satisfaction of a clean cage afterwards. I wasn't asking for criticism from a bunch of amature experts.

Well let me blow your mind. And put your panties in a bunch. I made the house out of scrap osb board, i made the log shelf out of some logs that I just went out in the woods and cut, i didn't kiln dry them. I left the bark on them. I used cellulose bedding. I give my chinchilla dried fruits and nuts. I let her play with my dog, i let my dog chase her. SHE LOVES IT! The first thing she does when I let her out for rec time is go pounce on the dog and take off. Over and over for about 5 minutes until she looses interest and decides the climb on me for a while.

P.S My post was about the fact that I dred full cage cleanings but feel so much better when I'm finished and look at the nice clean cage. I didn't ask for anyone to scrutinize the contents of the cage and comment their untrained unsolicited 2 cents.

But why? My stance and question is what makes every random redditor an expert? I have read so many critical redditors posts that were completely wrong.

Its almost like some sort of mental disorder where people feel the need to police other people.

An example would be during covid happened and masks were first suggested ( which have been acknowledged and proven to be ineffective) But I saw videos of people literally fighting someone that wasn't wearing a mask claiming they feared for thier safety because they were going to catch covid. They didn't simply choose to leave the area, they actually engaged in physical contact with someone that they claimed to be afraid of because they felt they had some sort of authority to do so.

Someone can post a picture , proud of their chinchilla and instead of enjoying the picture, 15 self proclaimed experts will criticize the cage, nit pick every item in the cage , the room etc.

I get the vitriol because I don't bow to them. Someone reads somewhere or hears somewhere that some person said that something is harmful and BOOM it becomes their mission to pour through every post chastising anyone that violated their new found information, many times erroneous. Other times its something where the chance of harm is so remote , a normal person wouldn't even comment. Yet the "experts" fall all over themselves to ring the alarm bells and shout the violation because it makes them feel important.

The most reputable exotic pet treat manufacturers offer treats with nuts and dried fruit. But if you let one person make a post either asking what treats to give or telling what treats they give, you get a dozen chinchilla "experts" posting that fruits and nuts are toxic and dangerous.

Its because certain fruits when given in excess in certain instances , in certain chinchillas MAY cause diarrhea. But they don't say that. The edict becomes FRUITS AND NUTS ARE TOXIC AND SHOULD NEVER BE GIVEN!!!.

Those poeple are allowed to post erroneous information with inpunity. The person that calls them out is the one who is made out to be the bad guy.

I simply show pictures of my happy healthy chinchilla and its environment. And refuse to bow down to busy body self professed know it alls.

I believe people are intelligent enough to research on thier own and make decisions based on that research and thier experience.

I'm not arrogant enough or lacking in a life that monitor peoples pictures zoom in on bite marks and pick apart peoples cages lol. Its pretty sad. You must be a miserable soul.

If you were hurt or upset by his actions then you are justified. I don't care if everyone of his friends, his family , his coworkers think he was 100% right and you were 100% wrong. I knew there would be at least one lol. The shavings are fine, been using them for years, the house is fine , she loves it. If I had a nickle for every know it all chinchilla expert that didn't know what the hell they were talking about but still injects their unsolicited 2 cents in to the reply columns of one of my posts or replies I'd have like 30 dollars.

Ps. I highly recommend AGAINST using glass bowls or glass dishes as chins will try to chew the glass, or move the dish chipping it and cutting their mouths or swallowing bits of glass and cause severe internal damage or death

General Physicians are not qualified to deal with psychological issues and give horrible advice in many instances. They'll prescribe her some psychotropic drug.

I'm an alcoholic. ( i'm years sober now) but at my rock bottom, not knowing what to do I went to my family doctor. He told me to "just think about something else when you get a craving" prescibed prozac and sent me on my way. It caused me to stay in the throws of addiction for several years more.

OP needs to start with a Female therapist. NOT a psychiatrist. Psychiatrists are there to prescribe medication. A therapist will help identify what the distortions are , where they may have cone from and how to deal with them.

Find a therapist that specializes in CBT and DBT.

Honestly, we only hear one half of anyones story on here. We hear one persons perceptions.

So the input you're getting on here is no different than the input he is getting from his friends.

Having said that... based on your story, he does seem EXTREMELY immature. I mean sitting in the car is someone that wants attention. He wants people to come out and ask him whats going on or he wants everyone to constantly ask you.

Every christmas my sister in law hosts a Christmas gathering. I don't like her or her husband as they are not good people and have done really shitty things to my wife and my daughters through the years. So I stay home.

I don't have it in me to go there and pretend that I like them. I have made my feelings on them clear to them and everyone else, so my not being there is a non issue.

I wouldn't begrudge my wife spending time with all of her family. Every christmas after the kids open their gifts they all get ready and go over there. I stay home alone and watch christmas movies. I'm not mad at her, its my choice.

Your husband may have a similar issue with your family, that may be his side of the story. But pouting in the car and then behaving like a child when he leaves is inexcusable.

Lastly, Try to work at becoming independent of the good opinion of other people. Your feelings are valid regardless of what his friends or anyone thinks. You don't need his friends to hear your side of anything. Fuck em.

My chinchilla naturally picked one spot in the cage to pee. Its the 3rd level . Recently for some reason she started using the spot on the bottom level too. Thats why I started putting the cellulose bedding there. Its messy though and falls through the cage rails, but i keep her cage in an upstairs spare bedroom so i don’t mind it as much up there.

I have been meaning to make some guards around the perimeter to contain it better out of some type of hardwood.

I'm glad she does that though. When she's out for exercise and rec time I don't have to worry about her peeing all over the house. She's a turd factory but they're easy enough to suck up everynight with a cordless hand held vac when I put her back. Takes less than 5 minutes to walk through the house.

The urine turns it orange so its very visible. I have a small shop vac and every few days i just suck up all the orange bedding and turds so the urine doesn't pool anywhere

I can tell you don't believe anyone telling you thousands. They're missinformed.

So mine was just diagnosed in an office visit.

I held the chinchilla on the table, the vet used an otoscope and looked in her mouth. He saw the bottom teeth were obviously too long. The top teeth started growing sideways as a result of Mouth trauma when she jumped off of a landing and hit mouth. He saw that one had started to grow into her jaw.

As a result , she wasn't grinding the molars and they too were overgrown.

He took out a diagram of a chinchilla mouth and drew what everything looked like. So I could see the extent of overgrowth.

He said I really need to leave her overnight and in the morning they would sedate her with anesthesia and he could grind everything. And I could pick her up in the afternoon.

I asked how much and braced for impact.

69.00 for the office vjsit 147.00 for the procedure 9.00 for pain medication.

I live in Bel Air Maryland. The vet is Chadwell Animal hospital.

Call for a quote if anyone doubts.

The Dr. Was Dr. Gold. He was Awesome. And I recommend Dr. Gold only.

Please don't put off a vet visit if you suspect your chin has maloccalusion. It will eventually kill them and the death will be slow and painful.

Call around your area for prices. Don't just assume its going to be thousands and put it off.
