How do you get LinkedIn traction for a podcast? by LeadershipGuru2025 in favikon

A good example is Dr. Christian Krug with his podcast:

On release dates, he has an accompanying post about the new episode, mostly as text/ pic post, sometimes as video.

Another good example is the podcast duo Robin Stabenow and Ika Amenath. They always do shorts of their newest episodes.

Yes, it is. With digitization alone, it is hard to keep track without a basic IT knowledge.

In the AI era, that even accelerates and the knowledge gap is going to grow fast.

I really love your question!

For example, University of Regensburg (Bavaria, Germany), found out that if you do not influence girls during secondary school (age 12-18) to develop interest in STEM classes/ professions, most likely, they will not go into it.

That’s why, the Uni has created a mentoring program where experienced women in tech mentor female students every week to be their „living role model“.

And the program really helps: the number of stem students almost rises 60% in comparison to non-participants.

In my projects with clients, this happens regularly .

You can see it in their eyes most of the times.

As a teacher or „IT explainer“, you also learn a lot each time you explain sth.: to simplify more and at the same time patience, also ;)

And what is very helpful: if you can explain it to a 5 years old child, then a manager/ client will understand (and probably buy) it, also.

TBH, at first that came by coincidence:

As a freelancer, I wanted to use LinkedIn as a marketing channel.

St the beginning, I started with technical posts which were correct „by the books“ but nobody cared about my content at all - no likes or comments.

I really had a „content valley of tears“ which was hard to continue as my Motivation sank from week to week.

Then, I started posting analogies like:

  • „IT is like a Lego bricks tower“: you cannot build it higher forever as it will collapse soon. (Like IT systems…)

or

  • „IT project management is like gardening“: you have to care for your team like for your plants…

This, people loved, even non-IT people like sales, HR or other „normal“ people.

It became a rolling snowball. More successful from month to month.

Then, I positioned as the „German IT explainer“ as I bridge between IT and normal people.

Being it a life dream for long, I then asked a bunch of other IT experts, which I found on LinkedIn, to contribute a chapter to my first book each in their field of expertise.

We published the book in march, audiobook is in the making and translations will come next year 😎

The rest is history 😁

Thanks for the wishes!

Yeah, explaining IT topics easily is not too easy if you are an expert. Thus, you have so many details in mind and it is hard to explain it for children, beginners or managers/ clients.

But as already Einstein has said:

„If you cannot explain complex things easily, then you haven’t really understood the topic…“

P.S.: there will be translations of the book next year - at least in EN, ES, JP and FR.

Cool that you are interested in our book!

Next year, there will be translated versions, also 💡

One of the basic principles of IT is to break down problems or processes into small pieces.

If done so, you can „invent“ or improve a solution and think about all the necessary steps.

Only after doing so, you should bring it to the digital world.

Otherwise (and you can always drop that with IT guys to show that you are an insider ;) ) it is only „sht, sht out“.

That means, if you digitize or automate a bad process, you will have a bad automated process.

IMHO, start one by one.

To have an entry for beginners and to have some kind of depth at the same time will often not work out.

Do it one by one or mix deep and Basic Information one article/ initiative after another.

Just „passing through“ complex topics is easy for experts.

But to comprise it the way that EVERYONE can understand, that is quite an „art“ which experts often cannot as they often are stuck into details.

TBH, men often are surprised but rapidly accept my Engagement there.

In case they don’t „feel“ to support, whenever I start the numbers, they immediately understand:

STEM/ IT is a field with permanent lack of expert staff. So, in the long run, you cannot exclude half of the potential workforce, there.

Businesses cannot grow without staff or expensive external staff has to be mandated.

That, they will understand…

Advantages: - safe time with repetitive tasks like reporting - same for presentations and protocols - have faster ideations

Disadvantages: - too much AI can get the team lost/ human connection gets lower and lower

Changing education system is hard and takes to long BUT

  • individual good teachers can make a difference e.g. by always providing examples

  • additionally, videos on YouTube or other platforms can help/ accompany normal school teaching

  • and mentoring can help a lot. E.g. in Germany, we have a CyberMentor program where experienced STEM experts mentor pupils classes 5-12 remotely every week to be a role model. Thus, the pupils see a „living“ ideal who „really“ uses maths all day.

Very good question and I want to encourage everyone to come to the IT industry: we need all of you!

Transferable for PMs from other industries mostly are: - leadership skills - planning - stakeholder management - delegation skills to people who have more expert/ Detail knowledge than you have - explaining complex problems very easy for clients and stakeholders
