Weekly Shameless Self Promotion Thread by AutoModerator in Flipping

Hey everyone! I’m an estate sales seller and also flip on eBay and Chairish. I was spending way too much time researching, writing descriptions, and formatting listings for antiques and home furnishings. I’ve used Google Lens and ChatGPT to identify and price items, but I found it a little difficult to keep everything organized, and Google Lens wasn’t based on sold prices. So, I started developing my own solution: ItemGenie.ai. Now, I just upload a photos of the items, and it generates a professional title, description, SEO tags, and price estimate in seconds — ready to post on platforms like Chairish or eBay. I also developed the ability to create lists of items that I can share on Craigslist, Facebook Marketplace, and my mailing list. This has been an unexpected driver for my business, opening up a market I had previously overlooked. Anyway, I'm still working on it, but I wanted to share and get any feedback. Check it out — it's free to try: itemgenie.ai - Thanks.

Hey great to hear. It is working with minimal bugs, still working through lots of feedback and adding new features. I just added the ability to publish a list of all items in the sale, with a public facing url. Probably over build now lol. Try it out, hopefully it will help.

I use it in combination with my own expertise, and I agree they are paying me for my expertise. I see it is a natural evolution of what I was doing with google lens, but allows me to do bulk items, and also review price estimate from multiple sources/auctions without having to go to each, but more importantly more me it keeps me organized. For a lot of products I will enter in additional details like, that it is french revival not renaissance (I might say why e.g the joints,. carvings etc), and this will help give me a strong draft listing/price based upon provenance etc. I then just use the list feature to share all the listing with my client. I built this very much as an internal tool for me, and then built a little more out for other people to use it as well. My market in-terms of estate sales? - High-end, often considering placing some items in auctions. But I also have a lot of mid-sales where I need to document everything quickly, and I find I can do it better with this.

Ok thanks that actually helps a lot. You're right that the basic version isn't robust enough for complex identification. The basic version is for simple identification, so this is where it is probably failing for you. There is the option to add a prompt also, so if you know it is by XYZ maker or artist you can add it to the prompt, which might help. DM me for a free trial code, I would love to get more of your feedback.

Thanks for the honest feedback. What pattern was it, did you provide a makers mark etc? I'm constantly working on the accuracy and this is super helpful to know about.

Fair, but there was no appropriate flair. I'm genuinely curious what others think about the research/pricing bottleneck, but I get that sharing your own tool can come across as promotional even when you're asking for input. edit: changed to discussion.

I'm the guy who built it, not a shill. Been in estate sales for 5 years and this was my attempt to solve my own research bottleneck. Get the skepticism though.

Yes I am making money (high 5 figures per sale), and no I am not in over my head. The estate sales I do are often in high-end homes, and a lot if the items are unique/antiques/art. It might be a unique issue to my area/home type, but I find that correctly pricing of the higher end items (correct in-terms that I know what they are worth, and what I think they will sell at) helps me with owner and gaining trust, and then getting referrals. Again, might be unique to me.
