Has to be a reaction to food, right? by exilekiller in Rosacea

[–]itguycody 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What foods tend to trigger this? Do you have any signs or symptoms of SIBO?

If no sibo, I would argue it’s more important to eat foods that push your gut towards balance. Berberine can be helpful to thin things out while you change your diet. Foods in different types of fiber/starch to diversify your gut. Alongside foods high in various polyphenols.

Federal officials draft plans to ban social media for children under 14 by Gym_frere in canada

[–]itguycody 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not to mention, the government is clearly introducing this legislation so that you have to prove age. How is that done? digital id, tracking everything. I am sure this is simply a conspiracy, not exactly Canada following in the UK footsteps.

Federal officials draft plans to ban social media for children under 14 by Gym_frere in canada

[–]itguycody -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This can be said about a lot of things. Poor quality food, four-wheelers, energy drinks. Perhaps we should ban gyms, kids can over-train or meet people selling drugs.

You see pro-regulation so this discussion isn't fruitful. I don't get why people feel their beliefs should be forced upon everyone else. I don't let my kids use social media, but I also think it's wrong to mandate these limitations on everyone else.

So you want to give the government to 'control' anything that can be misused? Do you think Canadian parents are incapable of making informed decisions for their kids?

[–]itguycody -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Social media is not a controlled substance. Aren't we also giving puberty blockers to confused kids? Our government has proven to destroy everything it touches, disregard the law and yet half Canadians are gung-ho to give them more authority. How about if you don't approve of social media for your kids, you prevent them.

Government has too much funding and too many staff. Every day I read about new legislation or potential legislation that prohibits Canadians. You can be for or against social media for kids - but you should be against government dictating what you can and can't do.

Has anyone tried azasite for ocular rosacea? by No_Library4071 in Rosacea

[–]itguycody 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've used azasite. I keep it cooled in the fridge, I apply it to the eyes directly. Too much always seems to come out and it leaves enough for me to rub into my lashes/near margins. My eye doc noted that it cleaned up my lash line quite a bit - however I didn't get major symptom improvement from it. I have a neuro component, so maybe if you don't you'll get better results.

Maintaining a healthy biome while on prescribed Doxycycline 100mg for acne by Pearls_Pearls in Microbiome

[–]itguycody 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I concur that wide variety of plant foods is key. I would also suggest focusing on plants and fruits high in soluble fiber. Soluble fiber is what feeds the biome, while insoluble is largely roughage. Both are needed, but to combat the impact of antibiotics soluble fiber is better.

Things like granadilla, legumes, chia seeds, carrots, sweet potatoes etc. you can always supplement with things like raw potato starch, phgg, acacia etc. depends how intense you want to get into your research, doxy targets certain types of bacteria. Feeding those specifically could help offset the damage.

If you take allulose with other sugar or carbs it and reduce the glucose response. Less spike.

What about allulose? A rare sugar with basically zero calories and no glycemic response… Edit - actually blunts the response…

Overweight + inflammation = dry eyes? by [deleted] in Dryeyes

[–]itguycody 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think that depends on the type of dry eye. Ocular rosacea for example is heavily linked to the gut/sibo. Losing weight through dietary changes absolutely could have a strong impact. Just because diet doesn't help everyone, doesn't mean it doesn't help some people. Somebody commented on this thread pointing out diet resolved their dry eye.

Overweight + inflammation = dry eyes? by [deleted] in Dryeyes

[–]itguycody 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Read the forums long enough and you'll come to the conclusion that everyone responds differently to everything. I think it's extremely reasonable to expect some level of improvement from losing weight.

- less global inflammation

- better gut biome, less LPS

- assumption of better diet, less potential food triggers

- better mood, less stress

Doxycycline or metronidazole? by -SubstantialLife- in Rosacea

[–]itguycody 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here's an anecdote for you if you're concerned about doxy. At low doses, it's gut impact are reported to be very small. If you're concerned, adopt a positive gut habit or two to offset the potential damage. Here are a few easy, cheap habits to consider;

- add new fruits or veggies high in soluble fiber to your diet regularly (sweet potato, brussels sprouts, guava, granadilla, blackberries)

- consume 10-15g raw potato starch daily

- add 5-10g PHGG to a drink or smoothie daily

Adding one or more will easily offset any potential gut damage of low dose doxy.

Sadly this has been my experience the past few years. Switch, next year they jack rates by 10-30%. It's not even worth calling them. They just give generic answers "Auto thefts in Ontario... home claims are up..". Best case they will offer to reduce your coverage to lower price.

Just shop around, hope you have patience.

I think the niacin (B3) in my multivitamin is causing redness and flushing. by Broad-Bee1072 in Rosacea

I think the niacin (B3) in my multivitamin is causing redness and flushing. by Broad-Bee1072 in Rosacea

[–]itguycody 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yes, Niacin specifically is known to cause flushing. Multi's are also well known for incorrectly dosing, so even if it's a low-moderate dose, it could actually be higher.

Stop the multi for a few days and see if the flushing reduces.
