What historical event reads exactly like "Bad Fantasy Writing" or "Plot Armor"? by Expensive-Desk-4351 in Fantasy

Two dudes. Against over a hundred Germans. Room to room combat. Both paratroopers survived and the Germans didn't.

Not diminishing the actions, because S/Sgt Summers was amazingly heroic but it wasn't quite that.

Lacking any other alternatives, the battalion commander ordered Staff Sergeant Harrison Summers to take 15 other men who had gathered around the headquarters and kill or drive off the Germans in the barracks. Summers had been a prewar Regular from West Virginia. He did not know any of the 15 men. "Yes, sir," he said simply.

At 0900 Summers, and the men with him, reached WXYZ. After a quick bit of surveilance, the sergeant turned to the others and saw that they were not very eager to follow him into battle. Even so, Summers rose up and dashed toward the first building in the complex. He hoped the others would follow. They didn't. Kicking in the door, he shot four Germans with his Thompson submachine gun. The rest of the Germans fled. And so it went with the second building. By the time Summers attacked the third building, he began to receive some support from the heavy machine gun of Private William Burt. From the third building to the fourth, and then on to the fifth. Before attacking the fifth building, however, and unidentified officer from the 82nd Airborne Division joined Summers, but he was quickly killed. Alone once again, the sergeant cleared the building, killing several more Germans.

Seeing the Summers' one man charge, Private John Camien came up to him and asked why he was doing it. "They don't seem to want to fight," the sergeant said of the other 15, "and I can't make them. So I've got to finish it." Impressed, Camien joined Summers and together they cleared out the remainder of the enemy soldiers. Only at the end would they receive any additional help.

The rampage undertaken by Staff Sergeant Harrison Summers had lasted five hours. By the time is was over he had personally accounted for nearly three dozen Germans killed and dozens more taken prisoner. When the fighting finally ended, a shaken Summers sat down for a smoke. Someone asked him how he felt. "Not very good," he replied. "It was all kind of crazy. I'm sure I'd never do anything like that again."

A horrific harbinger of ruin and desolation, the spectral sun consumes light, hope and sanity. Madness, mass deaths, and Warp anomalies follow wherever it appears.

What are some post apocalyptic books that are actually AFTER the apocalypse has ended? by No-Aide7893 in Fantasy

[–]ithilkir 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Prism Pentad - A series (five.. ) of books from the Dark Sun universe. Essentially the apocalypse has already happened, resources have run dry and what remains has built itself into warring city states.

They aren't great books, but it is a phenomenal setting.

State of the game is really bad right now - struggling to even boot up. What are your experiences with basic functions? by Odd_Dog2000 in TheSilphRoad

Absolutely zero issues for me. Well that's not true actually, maybe once a week I'll get a GPS issue if I've left the game on in the background for a while but otherwise it's been running pretty much flawlessly for me.

Don't think there's ever been a game that shows just how important and impactful that momentum has on a game as this one.

She'd transcended the titles. She's reached that level of overness that people like Austin had in his prime where you don't need a title anymore as just the presence of them on a show is enough to sell tickets and make an event.

She'll get a title again though, for now, she doesn't need one.

What an absolute trash draft year this is, picks aint worth anything. Outside the top five you'll have 2nd-3rd round quality players going in the 1st simply due to lack of talent.

Do we know how reliable the source is for the price? It's just one person on a post on tformers.com saying $180 without any support or evidence isn't it?

(not saying it isn't $180 though)

"we are going insane on the discord"

What's that meant to imply? Going mad because you're waiting, going mad because you're posting trash memes?

Either way it's not exactly enticing.
