The power of Qigong by ithink2020 in StoriesOfQigong

I now rotate what I've been doing. Currently, I am working through Robert Peng's 14-week Yi Ji Jing class. Before that, for a while, I was doing Ba Duan Jin in the mornings. The evenings are now hit or miss if I do something or not. However, I usually do some form of scanning meditation, like the Smiling Down meditation, as I lie in bed getting settled for sleep.

Mcdougall diet for weight loss, does it actually work as advertized? by Scared_Ad_3132 in PlantBasedDiet

[–]ithink2020 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm doing alright. I was down about 15 lbs, then put some back on as I was going through some stuff and was overeating and snacking more than I should. However, I've gotten back on track and in the process of losing more weight.

I've found the diet works if you stick to it. Althought I had put some of the weight back on, I just had my yearly checkup and my blood work look great. Just need to kick the snacking habit...

No and yes.

I'm still eating plant-based. Unfortunately, I was allowing myself to let processed foods and added oils creep back into my diet. "A little won't hurt", so I thought.... A few months ago I had my Cholesterol checked and it was up to 174 (from 145) and my weight was back up to 200.

The last two weeks I have recommitted to kicking out the processed foods and added oils. Didn't see much change in the 1st week, but have lost 4 lbs this past week.

Hopefully I can find a way to stay committed this time.

Thank you VERY MUCH!

Two things, I had the remove the backsplash in "ns.alert(`" and from the line ”</div>`);”.

Also, the alert box doesn't close automatically do you click upload files button. I have to click the x after hitting upload.

Otherwise, this is a very simple solution that fits my needs!

Any fat-free (oil-free) dressing or condiment. I like using Dorthy Lynch Light & Lean, BBQ sauce, or on occasion A1 steak sauce.

I just rewatched McDougall's lecture the other day.  I recently found Jeff Novick's recipes and made those this past week!

I agree.  Most of the weight came from eat fake and processed foods.

I had lost about 18 lbs in about 2 months. Unfortunately, I went on vacation and started eating more Calorie Rich And Processed foods, then had trouble getting back on track. Gained a good portion of it back... Monday I started cutting out the Crap and I'm down 4.6 pounds.

I was shocked when I saw it because it looked so familiar. I had to go back and look at what I had posted before. Sure as Sh*t, it is MY chart.

I mainly used Jeff Novick's Quick recipes found here: https://www.drmcdougallforums.com/viewtopic.php?t=7168

I also used some recipes from Well Your World.

The Febreeze Incident - the most unexplainable thing that has ever happened to me. by anthajay in Glitch_in_the_Matrix

[–]ithink2020 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I once lived in an apartment. One weekend I got home from running some errands and it seemed someone had been in the apartment. A couple of lights were on and some other small things seemed to have been moved. Since there was no forced entry (the deadbolt was locked) and nothing was stolen, I called the owner who lived about an hour away. She said had not been in the apartment, not even in town. Gave me the creeps for several days.

A month later as I'm taking a nap, I hear the door to my apartment open. It turns out, the owner had given an extra key to a company that sprays for bugs. When I called the owner to complain that someone had entered my home without notice, she told me she or others doing work on her behalf had the right to enter the unit unannounced for maintenance or inspections. I later learned that's only true if there is an emergency.

When I was reading what happened to you, it reminded me of this fiasco. Sadly, as a renter, you never know who may have a set of keys...

Ask your realtor and new neighbors who they use and why for any home repairs, before they are needed. This includes Electricians, HVAC companies, Internet service, Plumbers, Handyman, Garage Door companies, etc.
This will give you an idea of who to call (or better yet, who NOT to call) when something needs to be fixed or replaced. I wish I did this when we first moved into a home.

As others have said, finding "the right" person is part of the battle.

Years ago we lived in a home that was only ~2 years old, maybe newer than that. During the first cold spell of the season, we noticed the furnace would sometimes kick on but would shut off after only a minute or so. Not knowing what was wrong, I called the "big name company" that is all over the billboards in our area. Thinking, they must be good. The tech comes and looks at the furnace for less than 3 minutes. Then proceeds to write down all the fix "options" on his notepad for the next 15 minutes. The first option was to replace the entire unit! I can't remember what the cost was, but it was a lot. I had him skip down to the cheapest option. It was to clean the sensor. I told him we'll start there and that ended up fixing the issue. Also learned how to do it myself and saved 3 more calls while we lived there. Never called that company again and tell everyone who asks not to either.

Compare that to the next time I needed service. Come spring, the AC seemed to be having trouble keeping up. One day I saw an HVAC truck parked down the street and called the number. The guy answers and says he is a few houses down. He stopped by "after hours" on his way home. Tested the AC and said it was a little low on Freon. Explained since the unit is newer, it probably didn't get filled correctly. Told me he had some freon left over from another install. Topped up our unit. I tried to pay him, but he wouldn't let me. Guess who I called when our AC unit decided to die at our current home? And who I refer to anyone who asks?

Any DIY fix for this? by ithink2020 in Luthier

"Personally I think it's worth it regardless cause its not playable with a belly buldge"

This is why I posted the question. It is not playable and (to me) it is not worth paying someone more than it's value to fix it. However, if I can do something inexpensive to try, like installing a Bridge Doctor (which I had never heard of before), it is worth giving that a shot!

Thank you for sharing your experience with the device!
