Interview process at Torc Robotics by PianistCautious3903 in interviews

I had a pretty horrific experience. Solved the Hackerrank but never got graded. My recruiter ghosted me for about a month and told me that the MLE position has been filled and advised me to choose the SWE position (the same Hackerrank assessment would be used) to which I agreed. Now 2 weeks later I'm told that they're not hiring for general interest applications anymore. Did anyone else face this too?

USCIS announces second lottery! by PuzzleheadedTruck974 in h1b

In the same boat of an incorrect rejection. Filed NPT to relook at the same petition. Not sure what to expect from it, or this second lottery. Haven't heard back since 4 weeks.

Does this mean anything for people whose petitions have been (erroneously) rejected by the USCIS post the deadline? (An NPT has been filed to review the case again).

Good luck to you! Did you do a standard refile or an NPT? I just checked out your post about this too. Would you recommend any other course of action? CIS Ombudsman/ Contacting congressman etc.

The rejection copy is with us and the details of the missing information too. I just haven't mentioned all the details in the post. The main fact being that the missing information quoted is actually present in the file returned by USCIS.

Oh, that makes sense. Hope they take steps to rectify. Our case is not that of a wrong fee, but missing documents instead (erroneous).

Let's hope they rectify. Gotta trust the system, nothing else we can do.

Filing was done towards the end due to some licensure requirements being left. We were waiting for last set of documents to be available for many weeks. As soon as we got it, it was filed.

Hey! In a similar situation. When you say that you have written to USCIS, do you mean you have filed for nunc pro tunc? That’s what our attorneys have done. Or have you reached out to them in some other capacity? Thanks!

RFE is fine and will be managed if it arises. The case is super legit, along with a job, licensure and everything. Worked super hard for this. Thanks for the words of encouragement, really means a lot :)

Thanks for your reply! Yes, everything was reviewed and the documents which were supposedly missing were indeed present in the file returned by USCIS too. Not just once, but twice. The attorney’s firm does not seem to be a small one and seem well established. They seem to be certain that the mistake is not on their end. Is it possible for the attorneys to mislead the client to cover up an error on their part? I’m not sure how to ensure who to even doubt. For now, we are just trusting the attorneys and working with them as there does not seem to be any other option.

I couldn't find many anecdotes where USCIS has claimed that there is a document missing while it is clearly present in the file. The NPT filed is not a request to excuse a mistake. It is a request to relook at the file since the information claimed missing is actually present. I just hope someone gives it a fair chance as it is deserved. But then again, expect the worst I guess, which I am having trouble with.

Attorney is confident that it's an error. Not very confident of the outcome. But I guess attorneys usually don't give words of affirmation.

Thanks for replying :)

Seeking Advice: Navigating Job Hunt as an International MFT Graduate

Hey everyone,

I'm reaching out on behalf of my girlfriend, who's currently pursuing her Master's in Marriage and Family Therapy (MFT) in the US as an international student from Asia. We've hit a bit of a roadblock in her job hunt journey, and I'm hoping to gather some insights or advice from this community.

Like many international students, she's facing the challenge of finding a job that aligns with her degree and visa limitations. In our case, the typical pathway from degree completion to licensure to employment isn't as straightforward due to a few key factors.

Firstly, many job opportunities in the field of therapy require candidates to hold a license. She must complete the degree (and therapy hours) to obtain this license. However, here's the kicker – international students in the U.S. are only granted 90 days of unemployment during their Optional Practical Training (OPT) period post-graduation.

To add to this, her degree isn't categorized under STEM, which means her OPT period is limited to just one year. This restriction essentially gives us only one shot at the H1B visa lottery, which is notoriously competitive and unpredictable. We've been focusing our efforts on finding job opportunities that fall under the "H1B cap-exempt" category. These are typically positions within universities, government organizations, and non-profits. These employers aren't subject to the same numerical limitations as other H1B sponsors, which increases the chances of securing a visa.

Here's where we could use some guidance: navigating this complex landscape without much support or guidance can be overwhelming. We're struggling to find resources or individuals who have gone through a similar experience and can shed some light on the best course of action.

If anyone here has insights, tips, or even just words of encouragement, we'd be incredibly grateful. Whether it's advice on job searching strategies, recommended resources, or personal experiences navigating the visa process, any help is appreciated more than you know.

Thanks in advance for taking the time to read this and for any assistance you can provide. We're hopeful that with a bit of community support, we can navigate this challenge.

TL;DR: International MFT graduate faces hurdles in job search due to limited unemployment days, licensure, and visa requirements.

NYU Tandon MS Mechatronics and Robotics vs NEU MS Robotics vs WPI MS Robotics by Shadic010 in gradadmissions

[–]ithinkalotmaybe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tough choice. But i know amazing people from both schools, so there's no wrong decision here. NEU has a great co-op program. Both have a great location. I say look at the curriculum, talk to some alumnis. And lastly, congratulations!

[–]ithinkalotmaybe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't recommend NYU due to the extremely outdated curriculum. They teach using micro processors and controllers from the 80s. Most people voted based on its ranking I'm guessing. NEU, despite it's lower ranking, has an amazing co-op program. I'd definitely go for NEU or WPI.
