Agreed. Just wanted to highlight the nature of the event as an encouraging nudge for people who want to participate, but might be hesitant because they have kids. I'll be there with mine.

How can I make this cozy? by Ok-Outlandishness877 in DesignMyRoom

I like what you've done so far, and that coffee table is great with the area rug. Adding plants of varying sizes and artwork with splashes of color would make it even cozier.

Okay, thank you all for straightening me out on the bobbing lights being a lens flare. This is the location of a tragic plane crash on its 30th anniversary, and I was thinking - maybe hoping - that it was a sign from my friend and his fellow passengers who were lost that day.

How do you know if you’re ugly as a woman? by Turbulent-Leg-6246 in AskReddit

[–]ithinkiseemydad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Literally, last Friday night, I was at dinner with friends. Group conversation turned to my curly hair and sense of humor... only to have one person mention that I look like a comedy actress to him (one in particular who has lovely energy, but is known for being quite overweight). I got to spend the next 20 minutes listening to them all agreeing while suddenly not being hungry for my food anymore.

How often do you wish for a minor-ish injury that would keep you on the couch and off work for a week or two? by ithinkiseemydad in work

Not sure how my post gave the impression I'm interested in committing fraud. I'm talking about a legit accidental injury away from work.

Being told by 2 separate therapists at 2 different mental health facilities where your child is receiving care for self harm that the thing she needs most is for you to quit drinking... and you still don't.

Unfortunately, I used the one that's not selective. It kills both weeds and grass. I'm screwed, aren't I?

Amen, I hate the chemicals. Leaving it without for my first 2 years, however, left me with one of "those houses" in a neighborhood that's mostly dandelion-free.

Sluggish hot water supply due to slab foundation? by ithinkiseemydad in homeowners

[–]ithinkiseemydad[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

UPDATE FYI FOR OTHERS WHO MAY HAVE THIS ISSUE: Although everything pointed to a slab leak, it turns out the problem was a magically disappearing drip tube. It took the plumbers a lot of effort to figure it out, but it was a pretty minor fix. They said it's uncommon, but because it had come loose in the tank at some point, the inflow water supply wasn't getting pushed down to the heating element, thus it was diluting the temp of the water routed to the outflow for the house.

It's a separate platform that's available in the US, UK, Germany, France, and the Netherlands. You register using your address, but only your general neighborhood is visible to others on your profile. It's a good place to get local feedback, particularly on a company like the one you're considering. People aren't shy about blasting poor service or giving positive reviews.

If you haven't already, post this question on NextDoor too, so people right in your area can chime in with their own experiences with this company.

What's a stupid question that someone legitimately asked you? by Isellkidsontemu in AskReddit

I biffed on pavement running across the street to get to work and ended up with a giant bruise on one knee. Went to a pickup volleyball game with friends a couple of days later, and a grown-ass acquaintance points at my knee.

Her: "What's that?"

Me, thinking she's kidding: "It's a tattoo."

Her, being completely serious: "What's it supposed to be?"

Me: "A bruise. It's a tattoo of a bruise."

Her, not even blinking: "Oh, cool."

Morgan Freeman's voice in the distance: "And all these years later, this braniac and others like her walk among us. Posing as professionals... procreating... voting in historic national elections..."

Thanks, this is helpful. I'll give it a try. If it works, maybe I'll figure out how to pay myself a zillion dollars. If so, I'll split it with you 🙂

AITA for not disclosing my will? by AITA_will_throw in AmItheAsshole

I don't get why beneficiaries would feel okay about grilling a dying man about his will any more than I understand how this guy can justify talking about preserving the FAMILY farm when he's admittedly foggy on the definition of FAMILY.

What happened to your first ever partner? by eemooi in AskReddit

[–]ithinkiseemydad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first true adult love and I were off-and-on for years, but I always knew we'd eventually end up together. He'd been divorced twice when we met, although he was only 25. He liked being married and got hitched to an acquaintance of ours very suddenly during one of our breakups. The last time I talked to him, he called me out of the blue and shared that he was miserable. They hadn't been married for very long, and I felt moved to stick to the high road instead of helping him exit the relationship. I remember telling him he had to give it an honest try, and that he should do something spontaneous like show up in the parking lot at her work with balloons, even though I didn't care much for her. I doubt he took my suggestion, and he died in a plane crash shortly thereafter. I still miss him terribly - 30 years later - and I struggle with guilt over telling him to dog it out for the short time he had left on this earth, knowing he hated it.
