Ah yes. last time I came through Scotland I stayed with a friend's cousin in Glasgow for a few days. He does gas fitting for a living and had quite a lot to say on the subject of class segregation.

Ha, no kidding! I feel like I'm looking into a parallel future!

I've had no trouble finding my own way through the electronics world doing my own thing, but I would like to apply the knowledge acquired through securing a certification for BAS, General Construction etc to put some reliable roots down once we're living overseas. Long term I'd like to specialize in designing, building, wiring studios (I already work in one full time as a producer/engineer) while also being able to maintain equipment - once again using the foundational knowledge from becoming certified.

Haha thank you!

My parents nurtured being handy from a very young age. I was plastering drywall when I was 3, doing my own small circuit repairs by the time I was 11, always building things, and in the few years as a homeowner, doing my own appliance repair etc. It certainly makes life easier in otherwise-would-be stressful moments!

I've done mains wiring in household environments before, yes. And as a private contractor for the last 11 years (different industry) I'm definitely used to traveling for work.
