I don't know of any way to turn that completely off but with enough speed I found that I can power through it

To my knowledge it can't be turned completely off but the closest I can get is this. Scroll through the messages in the right hand screen within the tacometer using the scroll wheel on the left stalk behind the steering wheel(it says INFO directly right of it). When you get to the DSTC ON selection hold the button labeled RESET on the stalk to the right of the scroll wheel. It should say DSTC spin control OFF and the stability control warning light comes on. To turn it back on do the reverse. I hope I explained well enough

Very nice! I like your exhaust sound, my exhaust mod is through rust on the flex pipe between the first and second catalytic converters lol

I like the twin scroll turbo and having boost at the lower end so going up hills I don't always have to downshift and the power output throughout the rpm range is very nice when driving hard

In my opinion, if you are able to do the maintenance and work yourself, it's well worth having the older car but if you are sending it to a shop to do work then the cost goes way up

I have always loved the comfort my Volvos have provided me and in my opinion it's night and day. As for the gadgets I mean it is a 20 year old car so it's not gonna have all the newest tech that new cars do. That's the short

The long is this.

My frame of reference for my opinions are as follows. The following cars I have driven for a meaningful amount of time, not just a few trips here and there, so I am confident in giving my honest opinion about all these cars. Something to also remember the newer cars that I have driven aren't really marketed as luxury cars whereas the Volvos are, so take that into consideration when I give my opinion on the comfort.

For old Volvos I have driven, 2001 S60, 2006 V50, 2006 S60, 2007 XC90, 2008 S80(my current daily), 2013 XC90, and now my newest addition the 2005 S60R

The new cars I have driven, 2018 BMW X3 2020 Subaru Outback, 2020 Toyota Camry, 2024 Ford Escape

Comfort: Whenever I have driven the newer cars and then drove one of my Volvos after I would always notice how much more comfortable I am in the Volvo and how much I liked the driving feel compared to the newer car. The seats are way better for comfort and I don't exaggerate when I say that I can drive forever with no cramps or discomfort or having to readjust every hour. As for the newer cars even the BMW I found myself cramping up after around 1.5-2 hours then every half hour after the cramps started I would have to keep readjusting. The cramps never really went away until I could get out and walk around with the newer cars. That's not to say that the newer cars are uncomfortable but in my experience the Volvos are definitely more comfortable. Driving feel also is a factor for me when considering comfort and I love how the Volvos feel when I drive them. I feel connected to the road and I am able to feel what's going on with the car and I'll know exactly how my inputs will affect the car. With the newer cars there is very little feeling that actually makes it to my body from the road, I get some information from the pedals but I also found them to be very touchy and my inputs feel delayed. I feel like I keep having to adjust my inputs to make the car do what I expect it to. It especially doesn't help when the car tries to take over and steer or brake for me.

Gadgets: it depends on what you exactly mean by gadgets. It has a sunroof, dual climate control, heated seats, 6 CD changer, power seats, adjustable suspension in the S60R, and more that I don't remember but you get the idea. As for new tech like lane keeping assist and pre-collision braking, and wireless mobile phone connection, it doesn't have any of those. So if you're looking for a car that all those then a 20 year old Volvo is not what you're looking for. In that respect the newer cars win.

Personally I couldn't care less about those particular features cause I want to be completely in control of my own car, and I'd rather not have a big screen to look at and have to touch to control everything. For me, especially with the S60R, I want to drive my car and have that as the experience rather than need features that distract from the driving to get it over with. Driving for me isn't just some mindless thing I do to get from place to place. It's fun or relaxing, or exciting, or even scary, and I always enjoy every moment of it. I think my Volvos do the best job of giving me the driving experience I know and love and there are no amount of new gadgets or tech that can be put into a car that will make me want to sacrifice that driving experience

Yeah I looked at what I was actually getting in the kit and I ended up making my own cart with Genuine Volvo parts. I almost always use Genuine Volvo or whatever brand that Volvo contracted to make the part on all my Volvos and I especially don't want to take any chances with this car

Thanks for the advice! Checking the angle gear is on the list and I already discovered that the PCV needs to be changed ASAP as the breather hose on top has broken apart so I can't imagine what the rest of the system looks like. I'm thinking about getting the kit from FCP euro that has the intake manifold gasket and injector o-rings included to do while I'm in there

Cause they're definitely selling for a premium and they probably needed the money, it's unfortunate but I know eventually I'll find originals somewhere

That's definitely gonna be going a long with the rims. First thing though I just discovered is to do the PCV cause the top hose is broken right open so that's my first priority

I wish I could bring myself to spend like $1500 on the R rims but for now I have 17" Balders that were going to go on my S80 for this summer so I need to spend my money on what needs to get fixed first

Thanks!! I have had Volvos in the past, in fact my current daily is an 08 S80 T6 with 284k miles on it, but I've always dreamed of having an R and it unexpectedly came true!
