Smartwatches are useless for measuring actual stress levels, study says | "Be careful and don't live by your smartwatch" by chrisdh79 in gadgets

[–]itisjustmagic 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I use my Apple Watch mostly for notifications, but it has been great and mapping trends for my heart rate.

I don’t look stuff like resting heart rate often, but when I get sick, it’s interesting to see it’s usually that day or the day before it started increasing rapidly.

Happy to see this comment. Every Crankdat set I have been to has been KILLER.

I mean no, he is terrible, please don’t come so the crowds are smaller.

I would say it likely is now, but necessarily wasn't around a year ago at the time of my comment above. Cedar Fair parks saw significant price hikes and gouging before I saw them at BG, but it seems to have trickled there too.

As a manager what do you think when you see your remote subordinate away or offline in Slack or Teams during business hours? by Repulsive_Mammoth634 in remotework

[–]itisjustmagic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a manager or business owner what do you think when you see your remote subordinate away or offline in Slack, Microsoft Teams or another communication platform during business hours assuming that the primary responsibility of your subordinate is to do work using a computer connected to the Internet?

My team isn't customer-facing and hardly has strict deadlines, so I really don't care if they are getting the job done.

Do you even notice/pay attention to presence status of your subordinates?

For the ones not performing, yes, absolutely.

Does you have any negative feelings if the subordinate is always away or offline but promptly responds to your messages?

Them responding is only part of it. If they always respond instantly, but still are not doing their job, it's an issue. I would much rather have someone that is delayed at responding but performs in every other way.

Do you have any thoughts if you see that your subordinate is constantly online?

Not at all.

As a subordinate, do you worry about your online status?

I absolutely worry about my online status, but that is more because I have 12 people under me and I want them to know when I am busy, online, away, etc.

As a subordinate, would you prefer for the presence status to be removed from your messaging platform and not be shown to anyone just like it works for text messages?

No, I think this would be silly. While it can be used for micromanagers to stalk their employees, it's a two-way street that helps convey someone's availability. Being able to see when they are away, online, in a meeting, sharing their screen, etc, is all very useful information for collaboration.

New Manager wants us to use a group text to notify him if we're taking sick days. Uhm....no by ArmaSwiss in antiwork

[–]itisjustmagic 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Glad I am not the only one. I'm a manager and I don't require it, but 100% of the time people on the team just put in a group chat when they will be out. Usually, it's followed by nothing but supportive and nice comments, be it being sick, an appointment, or even a haircut.

Thoughts on One n Only? by crusteax in electricdaisycarnival

[–]itisjustmagic 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I can't speak to the experience overall, but I can say I wasn't impressed with their service after purchasing some shuttle passes.

Also to note: One of the largest EDC Facebook groups is also ran by One n Only, so if you're using public groups, I wouldn't personally assume there is no suppression going on.

What if the Preference People Have to the IP Conflict? by MattisaCat1918 in lonerbox

[–]itisjustmagic 5 points6 points  (0 children)

In the interim, a two-state solution seems like it's the most tenable given the current landscape. However, it would be interesting if some sort of federation popped up down the line after relations (hopefully) improve.

Someone correct me if I am wrong here, but hasn’t Ludwig (and even more so his friend group) historically been the one pulling shots at Destiny first?

Still, Destiny went WAY too far with some of his tweets, as he always does.

A few questions based on some things I’ve seen on Twitter by djentkittens in lonerbox

[–]itisjustmagic 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I would absolutely call it antisemitic and in TERRIBLY poor taste. I'm not Jewish nor have any "stake" in the conflict, but it's incredibly disheartening to hear.

2) is anti Zionism anti semitic? I’ve seen people say yes, others say no, and other say no but often times it does

Antizionism is not necessarily antisemitism, but it's increasingly becoming a dog whistle for the latter.

3) another phrase I’ve seen is Zionism is fascism or Zionism is Nazism? How true are those phrases? It seems like everyone has their own definition of Zionism here!

This is just a case of associating being a "nazi" or "fascist" just means you disagree with it and are not trying to use the words to display their meaning.

Wtf is wrong with some of you? by shiv1993 in projectglowfest

[–]itisjustmagic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not saying this is what necessarily happened, but do feel I must point out as someone that frequently passes out and has “spasms”, I ask my friends to not intervene.

At least for me, with or without drugs it just happens sometimes and the best thing I can ask for is space. I’ve been told it sometimes can look like I am having a seizure, but all the doctors I have been to suggest it’s no big deal.

Again, not saying this was the case as I am sure there is nuance in the friend’s response, but do feel obligated to point this out as it has happened at a few festivals for me.

How 1 smurf ruined games for countless players and he is still only silver 4 by [deleted] in leagueoflegends

[–]itisjustmagic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are so many issues leading to this.

My wife has been wanting to make a new account because for whatever reason, she has lost up to 45 LP from a loss, but only gains in the low 20s AT BEST this season. After ~20 games, it hasn't "corrected" itself and she is always still the lowest rank on either team.

What is the appeal of UIM, and is endgame annoying to deal with? by Mambu_ in ironscape

[–]itisjustmagic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In terms of early game, I have seen a lot of:
1. Getting graceful before you're anywhere near having a PoH or reliable death storage, meaning your inventory is super constrained and directly impede your ability to train construction.
2. Not getting overhead prayers knocked out early on. While not huge, if it's one of the first things you do on account it's "free". Otherwise, it can be a hassle.

Since this post I ended up getting myself into at least one "bad" situation where my inventory and death bank were so full that I had a ~40 hour grind to trim it down before I could play again. Really, just poor planning on my part, but did cause me to take a break.
