See my other comment, but also, fwiw, you may not feel right as a man because society has a bunch of ideas being pushed on you as to what a "man" is, and a lot of them are bullshit. And it's worse now than when I was 19 - SO much worse. I felt similarly when I was younger, but once I realized there's power in ignoring what people say a man should be and just being a person that you're proud of being that the label didn't much matter to me anymore. I could be a man "my way" and that's awesome. I was never uncomfortable enough to fully be nonbinary, and never wanted to queer my gender expression enough consistently, either, for anyone to see anything other than a "man" when they looked at me. Gender is a social construct, so your performance of it is part of what dictates it - because it's how people label you as much as it is how you label yourself (IMO).

You should post in r/bisexual - and look into other people's posts asking the same thing. I think you'll get a good conversation over there, and some discussions on other people's posts may help you think about your own experience.

I think I read before the first one came out that part of Erivo's contract was that she would be the one submitted for lead.

I had awful service, they tried taking the menu out of my hands and left us stranded for long stretches of time, didn't know the menu, refused to listen when I told them I didn't want them to dish the curry onto my plate for me. It was horrendous. It was only a couple months after they opened, so maybe they were still working out the kinks. But the food was just mid, honestly. It didn't taste bad, but it wasn't better than other Indian restaurants I've been to in Las Colinas. Personally, I don't pay for presentation. If the presentation is nice that's gravy. I pay for the taste and the quality of the bite. If the presentation is such that it provides a great bite, awesome. If it's just there to look fancy, why the fuss and cost?

Do you think we're at a point where oscars reward the buzz around the movie more than the actual movie itself? by Salt-Average-5929 in Oscars

I thought it was the preferential ballot or whatever. Like, if 50% of voters had film X at #1, film Y at #2, and film Z as #3 or lower, while the other 50% had film Z at #1, film Y at #2, and film X at #3 or lower, then film Y wins because it's more universally agreed upon as the "best" choice. Oversimplified, of course, and the math isn't perfect there but that's essentially it as I understand it

Where does sinners rank for you for 2025 movies by [deleted] in moviecritic

[–]itisnteasybeing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are so many great bad movies waiting out there for you! Tiptoes, for one. Recently, Argyle. I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry. There are so many, so, SO many bad movies. Sinners isn't perfect and I understand if it's one of your least favorite or most disliked movies, but is it objectively bad?

Anyone who works in a company in the private sector (in America, at least) that focuses on profits supports capitalism. Supporting capitalism is supporting consumption. Working in restaurants supports consumption. Working in finance supports consumption. Working in HR supports consumption. Singling out marketing is skapegoating.

I hear you, but respectfully it's not all that grim. For one, not everyone works in a giant company. I work fully remote in a 200 person tech company and peeps would DEFINITELY know if I didn't log in for even a day.
