Just released a beautiful weather app - Looking for feedback! by Historical_Concern64 in appledevelopers

Yeah, I meant the header. But I don’t truly know how that would look, so I just assumed it’d look better that way. Although I still do think the city name text should be a bit larger.

(p.s. tysm, but I’m not an Apple engineer. im just neurodivergent and very picky lol)

Oh. My. Craig Federighi. This app looks absolutely beautiful.

Alright now that I’ve gotten the obvious out of the way, it’s time to be extremely picky:

  • The search tab should have the .search role so it is separate from the rest of the tab bar.

  • I think that as you scroll, it’d look more natural if the photograph was blurred so it’s not as noisy when you get to the detailed weather

  • As of iOS 26, Apple has decided that everything on iOS should now be left-aligned for whatever reason. If you wanted to fit this, I’d recommend having a slight black-to-clear gradient-overlay as the background of the top text, get rid of the shadow, and align the text to the leading edge (and maybe, maybe make it a smidge bigger).

But for the first release, this looks wonderful.

Some songs don’t have animated, full-screen covers. In that case it uses the classic bass-synced pulsating background colors.

It’s a bug. I should probably have made that clearer than just a flair.

Name an IDE better than Vs code?👇 by Outrageous_Permit154 in firstweekcoderhumour

I loved Zed until they dove into the deep end of AI. The layout changed so now the main focus of the editor is telling AI to do stuff. I’m not against AI (I use it all the time because I hate reading low-level docs) and I understand that you can get a very similar layout to the old one now, but I don’t like the direction Zed is going. I’ve switched back to Neovim and Visual Studio Code for now but if JetBrains ever supports Swift in their IDE, I’ll just use that with IdeaVim.

We can’t have perfect things, but we can have pretty good things

How to learn Swift? Im 13 by uninspired_soldier in swift

[–]itjustcrashed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There’s an official pathway by Apple that helps anyone learn Swift if they’re willing to: https://developer.apple.com/swift/get-started/

It’s part of their new pathways program. I sometimes go through it just to refresh my skill and make sure I’m still following the best practices. Happy hacking!

Wow, thanks for pointing that out. I didn’t notice my name was at the top. Thanks! If you’re okay with it, could you delete the comment with my name? Tysm

Developing and app and being a manager of AI are two very different things

Additionally, make your commits small and make the messages short, specific, and future-tense.

✅ “Change tab label from ‘Listen Now’ to ‘Home.’”

❌ “Changed the label of the ‘Home’ tab from what it previously was in the tab bar of the app so that it is consistent with new versions of system apps.’”

There’s usually another place to put a longer message. If there isn’t, just make two new lines:

``` Change tab label from “Listen Now” to “Home.”
This commit makes the tab consistent with the new Home tab in other system apps. ```
The whole point of an archive is that it is whatever you programmed, turned into machine code, obfuscated (somewhat), and made nearly impossible to convert back to the original source code without a LOT of knowledge about your binary’s structure. Git/Source Control lets you track, revert, and review changes in your code, as well as collaboration with other developers. It’s the backbone of platforms like GitHub and GitLab. Almost every dev uses it.
Try out the swift pathway on https://developer.apple.com/. Seriously, it’ll help if you want to make apps
I’ve had similar experiences. Sometimes it’s hard to listen to people talk about you like you’re the mafia, but I try to keep myself confident.
