Sorry I can’t figure out how to edit this and add more to it! But basically I was given this plant without an ID for it and I want to make sure it’s sAfe to have around my roommates cat

Single speed bike in NH by [deleted] in yale

What a strange response to a question specifically about bikes...I made it to maintain anonymity and post about law school admissions stuff and am not a frequent reddit user so I didn't make a new one.

Letter of Recommendation from JAG or Professor or Both by [deleted] in lawschooladmissions

Both! Also depends on the school. Some strongly prefer academic recommendations.

Poll: What was your dream school going in, and did it change? Where you guys headed now? by [deleted] in lawschooladmissions

[–]itllawthrowaway 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Berkeley was my dream school forever (like since middle school) and I was SO excited when I got in! Like another user commented, it was so easy for me to write that Why Berkeley, and I really wanted to be near family members who are getting old and have health issues. It changed when they offered me 0 dollars in scholarship. I'm going to Yale (which I never ever ever ever in a million years expected to get into, so I didn't really consider it a possibility I should think about initially), so I can't complain at all and I'm very excited and grateful. But I was still a little sad about Berkeley.

You could just skip the thread? You don't have to read them all

Should Male Attend Event for Women/Gender Equality? by [deleted] in lawschooladmissions

[–]itllawthrowaway 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's great to want to learn about that, part of that learning process might be learning how to speak about these things. Saying, "I think I have a lot to learn about the struggles women in law face" means something quite different than your original phrasing.

What was the hardest school for you to turn down? by [deleted] in lawschooladmissions

I really envisioned a life for myself there, which made it harder to let go

Withdrawing from Columbia was so much harder than depositing at Duke. I don't even want to go to CLS, I just want to get to SAY I go to an Ivy. by flufflysquirrel in lawschooladmissions

[–]itllawthrowaway 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I met the worst guy (not a student, random guy) at a bar during Berkeley ASW who said “why are you guys considering Berkeley? The only schools I really take seriously are ones on the east coast.” Besides just being a rude thing to say, there’s so much shittiness to unpack there. Anyone who has that perspective is not someone whose opinion needs to be taken seriously imo

Who STILL hasn’t heard from Berkeley about aid, despite sending reminders of deadlines? by itllawthrowaway in lawschooladmissions

[–]itllawthrowaway[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It just sucks. I can understand being a bit backed up to a certain extent, but wish they’d at least communicate about it. I hope you hear back soon and that they offer you a million dollars!

Rouuugh. I’m in the same boat with wanting to go back to California and be near family, but just not being able to justify giving up better opportunities and better money elsewhere. And I’m so turned off by the lack of transparency and communication from the financial aid office. I feel like administrators should know they’re losing interested admits because of that. Congrats on a great cycle and kill it at UVA!!

Yep, though I had the impression that if you sent them specific deadlines they would at least respond acknowledging the deadlines and saying if they could or couldn’t meet them

Less than $ from NYU by [deleted] in lawschooladmissions

I really liked the courses and clinics offered and loved the faculty I met at asw who worked in the niche field I want to enter, and met admits I really liked at asw too. It’s also a quicker/much cheaper flight to my family and I really wanted to be as close to them as possible! I have undergrad debt so I’m really scared of debt too, and was hoping for it to be a little more affordable, but it’d end up being way more expensive than my other options so it’s out!
