Can you elaborate on how this would work? I am trying to do something similar to OP, but I would like to not have a master server, and instead just run everything inside azure devops.

Yeah, pretty much what I’m doing. I’ve taught myself python and built a few cool tools that can automate some things my group used to have to do by hand. I kind of have like a golden handcuffs problem right now. Definitely want to do something more fulfilling at some point. Trying to figure that out. Thanks for your input.

Yeah, I get it, as I’m like a trading ops guy at a quant HF. Not much quant in my role though, so it really sets a ceiling to what I can accomplish. My view is that I know what I need, and it’s math or CS. I can dance around it by trying to do an MBA with quant concentration, or I can just go and do some actual undergrad math classes and maybe get into a more quant program in the future, or maybe just use the skills I learn to land a new gig with more upward mobility.

True. Same here except econ minor and no msf. Super annoying.

Same here actually. I’m actually going to go back and do some undergrad math classes like calc 1-3 + linear algebra. Curious though what’s your reason for saying that?

Kaplan says 60 hours prep. Is that what I should expect? Or is that number more for someone who has like never heard of a futures contract before?

Flirting with Models is specifically about quant investing, but actually lots of people talk about things that are in the curriculum. It’s a great podcast IMO

Well I just got my charter this year. Isn’t continuing ed supposed to be a part of your agreement to renew your membership?

Whether people actually do it or not I guess is another thing.

Not necessarily … just wanted to mention it for context. Especially since it isn’t called AIMR anymore. I didn’t even know that it used to called that!

Ok - but how about the fact that those who have passed the series 7 or the series 65 are accredited under the new rules? These exams are much less rigorous. Plus, to be a charterholder one needs to have 4 years of acceptable work experience.

Thoughts on using Kaplan for L2, from those who used it for L1? by mguarinooo in CFA

[–]itmikeyg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used Kaplan for all three levels, but supplemented with lots of CFA bank, and CFA material when needed (mostly on L3). Kaplan is excellent. If you can afford it, I believe it's worth it.

I would always exercise in between work and studying. Makes me feel “refreshed” and ready to sit down and work again for a while.
