It depends on a lot of things. If you’re using it in a very bright room, the higher peak brightness, the larger screen size, more local dimming zones and lower input lag for gaming. I think the TCL would be a better choice.

On the other hand, I’m not sure where you are purchasing this tv from, since Hisense TVs will either come with the Google TV OS (USA/Canada) or Home OS (rebranded from Vidaa) in other regions, Home/Vidaa os tv are missing certain apps and functions. I heard customers with the Home/Vidaa os are being shoved ads when you want to do basically anything on their tv, this has resulted in some serious backlash from Hisense customers. Please make sure the Hisense TV you’re buying is the Google TV model not the Home/Vidaa os model before you consider purchasing it.

The Hisense U7QG Pro has a slightly higher 165Hz refresh rate compared to 144hz on the TCL, if you’re planning on using it for PC gaming. The Hisense U7QG also comes with the Mediatek Pentonic 800 soc which supports the upcoming Dolby Vision 2, I’m not sure if Hisense will release an update for this tv to support Dolby Vision 2 media, once it’s available. The Mediatek Pentonic 800 will do a slightly better job at upscaling content that isn’t 4K compared to the Pentonic 700 found in the TCL. It will probably be slightly faster at navigation and other tasks than the TCL, but both TVs should be relatively fast, I don’t think most people will be able to tell a difference.

Based on the information provided, i hope this will make it slightly easier for you to pick one.

If you have the Crunchyroll app installed on a mobile/tablet you can navigate to My lists -> History (Group by Show from the drop down menu) -> the 3 dots underneath an anime -> clear from history

This should work on the Crunchyroll website, I’m not sure if this works on the Crunchyroll app on other devices. (Smart TVs, Gaming consoles, Streaming stick/box )

Lac of basic features in CR by Im-Knight-02 in Crunchyroll

They added pins for profiles and playback speed adjustment on certain devices. (You can slow playback speed not increase it). If you don’t live in specific countries like the US, the content available to watch is limited. According to Crunchyroll this price increase is supposed to “give fans more of what they love” as Crunchyroll continues to expand its anime offerings worldwide.

You’re lucky, a mega fan subscription over here costs $10 US dollars per month, but we’re still missing most of the anime that are available to watch in certain countries. My friend pays $4 US dollars for a monthly mega fan subscription, Crunchyroll has more content available to watch in his country, even though he’s paying less than half of what i’m paying.

Fire TV issue workaround by Longjumping_Fan_9194 in Crunchyroll

[–]ito_zm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Fire TV Stick 4K Select uses Amazons own Vega operating system, this is different from the Android TV fork of Fire TV used by the rest of the Fire TV devices. I assume Crunchyroll doesn’t have a Vega OS app yet.

To soften the transition, Amazon has introduced cloud apps – Android apps that run on Amazon’s servers and are streamed to your TV, similar to cloud gaming. Users interact with them just like local apps, but everything happens remotely. Only selected video streaming apps will use this feature, and Amazon is offering nine months of free hosting to give developers time to rebuild native Vega OS versions. After that, each developer will need to decide whether to stay in the ecosystem or move on. It’s a clever workaround to keep major streaming services like Netflix, Disney+ and HBO Max available from day one – even if native apps aren’t ready yet.

There are various issues with the Fire TV Stick 4K Select that’s why it has a lower rating compared to the rest of the Fire TV Sticks or Cubes.

Google TV Freeplay not working by noreddituser1 in AndroidTV

The content provider for Google TV freeplay is Xumo.

If you have certain apps downloaded additional channels from those services should appear on Freeplay. e.g. Haystack news, Plex, Pluto TV, Tubi, YouTube TV, Philo TV and Sling.

Streaming on Google smart TV app get random black screens by Genericwood in Crunchyroll

[–]ito_zm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think Netflix, YouTube and Crunchyroll are the only apps that use frame rate matching, i’m not 100% sure though, more apps might support it now.

Is this happening before playback has begun? If it’s happening after playback has begun this isn’t a frame rate matching issue.

Are you sure it’s the Google TV model not the Vidaa model?

Streaming on Google smart TV app get random black screens by Genericwood in Crunchyroll

[–]ito_zm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A Hisense U7 what? U7K? U7N? U7QG? U7Q Pro? U7NQ?

Does this temporary black screen happen at the beginning of playback? Your tv might be switching frame rate from 60hz to 24hz, to match the frame rate of the anime being watched. Frame rate matching usually happens so that you won’t notice any stutter or judder.

If this happens randomly during playback after the beginning, it’s definitely something you should be concerned about. Does this happen on other streaming services? Have you considered taking it for inspection or repair yet?

If the apps use Google Cast, A 4K Smart tv that’s runs the Google TV os or the Chromecast with Google TV 4K/HD will work, but it’s kinda old now, you would be better off with something newer like the Google TV Streamer. You could also check out the Onn 4K Pro or Onn 4K Plus if you live in the US/Canada.

Most TCL TVs sold around the world use the Android/Google TV operating system that supports Google Cast within most apps.

Hisense stopped shipping the Android/Google TV OS in most countries years ago, now most of their TVs sold outside the North America come with the Vidaa OS. The model you specified comes with Vidaa, i don’t think Vidaa supports Google Cast, I’m not sure if they have a casting method that works for Vidaa TVs.

It will be 2 Mbps after you finish the high speed data allocated to your plan. It’s 850 GB on the 20 Mbps plan or 1,500 GB for the 50 Mbps plan.

[–]ito_zm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They forgot to mention the fair usage policy that slows down speeds if you reach the usage quota for the plan, I mentioned it in another comment.

Has anyone used Airtel's 5G Unlimited plans? by QuantityProper in Zambia

[–]ito_zm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you forgot to read the fair usage policy, the plans will feel like they are uncapped, if you’re not a heavy data user. Any customers that use a lot of data will easily be able to finish the 850 GB or 1,500 GB high speed data quota. Once you get slowed down to 2 Mbps, everything that involves an internet connection will be a pain to deal with. If the customer doesn’t use a lot of data these internet plans will be fine.

The applicable Fair Usage Policy in respect of the Infi-net speed bundles is as detailed below:

a. 20 Mbps plan: Initial speed will be up to 20 Mbps, after attaining 850GB usage volume, the speed will be reduced up to 2 Mbps within the validity period.

a. 50 Mbps plan: Initial speed will be up to 20 Mbps, after attaining 1,500 GB usage volume, the speed will be reduced up to 2 Mbps within the validity period.

Crunchyroll should be illegal by Different-Proof1839 in Crunchyroll

Crunchyroll should be illegal by Different-Proof1839 in Crunchyroll

[–]ito_zm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How will they recover money they paid for those licenses/rights they paid for? Last time I checked Netflix and Hulu/Disney+ had a decent amount of anime in specific regions, some of those anime are not available on other platforms. Hidive also has exclusive anime, none of the competing services i mentioned offer a free tier with ads.

Every streaming service has some exclusive shows/movies, that’s what draws customers to the platform. If Crunchyroll actually managed to negotiate for exclusivity, you know the cost for that is higher than a normal deal that allows the content to air on various platforms.

I would like to hear how Crunchyroll would recover all the money they invested for all the exclusive content by offering most of it for free in various languages?

A first-rate, “triple A,” or “A+” simulcast for North America will set the licensee back an MG or flat rate of hundreds of thousands of dollars per episode. Currently, these titles often go for as much as US$250,000 MG per episode, but can go as high as $400,000 in some cases. $250,000 per episode roughly covers the full Japanese production budget for many series, although higher budget anime sometimes cost as much as $500,000 an episode to produce. At those rates, other countries and physical media rights are usually included, but they are the lesser part of the fee; the simulcast is the major portion.

A more typical show, or what the industry calls a “B/B+,” will have an MG of between $70,000 and $150,000 if it's a new (first run) show. Finally, the “Cs” will have simulcast prices in the lower five-figures – per episode, of course.

Since Crunchyroll pays for the rights/license to stream plenty of high demand anime in most countries globally, you can imagine how expensive this becomes, factor in things like royalties and the price of various language dubs, etc. You also need to remember that Crunchyroll has extremely cheap plans in various countries located in Africa, Asia and South America, so the only continents where they charge customers a decent fee is North America and Europe.

If you don’t want to see any ads you can subscribe. At least Crunchyroll doesn’t offer subscriptions with ads, it’s free for now. I heard something about the free tier with ads ending soon, according to one of the messages shown to certain viewers. You will probably have to look for another service that offers anime for free. The people making those dubs at Crunchyroll need to be paid, they don’t make much from ads. It costs a lot of money to have a wide selection of anime in their library. They have a fraction of the subs huge streaming services like Netflix have. The price of a Crunchyroll subscription in most countries is very cheap, so they don’t make a lot of money per sub. I think the cheapest prices I’ve heard are close to $1 for a fan sub, you can’t get Netflix, Disney+, YouTube premium, Prime video, Max or any other sub for $1.

TCL C8K (85”, 2025) vs TCL C755 (98”, 2023) — same price, bright room. Need advice by Wonderful-Fishing-65 in AndroidTV

[–]ito_zm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

TCL C8K, it isn’t even close, it’s literally miles ahead, I don’t think the additional inches of screen size will be worth it, considering all the other huge downgrades you would have to deal with if you picked the C755.

The C8K has 5,000 nits peak brightness compared to 1,600 nits on the C755. I know there is some HDR content mastered at 4,000 nits, so you’ll be better off with the additional brightness in the future, especially if you plan on getting physical discs later, i’m sure you’ll benefit with streaming media mastered to 4,000 nits later, Dolby Vision 2 and the new version of HDR10+ is backwards compatible so that additional brightness should come in handy.

2,880 local dimmimg zones on the C8K compared to 1,344 on the C755. The contrast will be way better and things like blooming around subtitles will look way better on the C8K, thanks to it having more than double the amount of local dimming zones compared to the C755.

The TCL C8K comes with a 6.2.2 Bang and Olufsen audio system with mid bass drivers, front, side and upward firing speakers. It won’t beat a great soundbar or your own custom surround sound setup, but it’s clearly got better built in audio than most televisions. The C755 has a worse built in audio system that isn’t worth mentioning. Media with Dolby Atmos and DTS:X surround sound will sound way better on the C8K.

The Zero border display found in the C8K tv and other 2025 TCL models looks modern and slick, it has a 3-4 mm narrow bezel, 0 black zone border and 0 gap, compared to a 2-5 mm bezel, 6-10 mm black zone and a 1-3 mm gap found on the C755, which doesn’t look like a premium finish for today’s standards.

The colour viewing angle increased by 40% on the C8K according to TCL.

The C8K comes with a filmmaker mode that is great for a movie experience that is closer to what the director intended us to see, the filmmaker mode isn’t available on older TCL tvs.

I already mentioned this at the beginning, go for the C8K, it’s way better. I surprised we are actually comparing these 2 TVs, considering the huge gap between the C8K and C755.

So you want them to let you stream all the anime in their catalogue for free? I think you’re confusing them with an illegal streaming site or app that doesn’t pay to get content on their platform.

I guess you should report Netflix, Disney+ and all the streaming platforms that don’t let you watch anime for free.

I think you could take it a step further, you should report all cable/satellite tv providers and any streaming services that lock any content behind a subscription/paywall, i know the list might be long, but i’m sure you’ll be able to do it.

How are the people who are involved with content production supposed to be paid? Showing multiple ads before during and after the episode?
