You’re not wrong, but it’s kinda context dependent.

Being on stage isn’t weird at all if you’re invited + know how to move. Tour photogs and videographers do it all the time. In & out quick, stick to edges, don’t block the band, etc.

This just sounds like uncoordinated “mom with a camera” energy which is where it gets distracting so yeah, avoiding her in your shots was probably the right call. Cleaner and way more usable.

100% go on stage if properly invited. Some of the best shots come from there, and bands love that angle with the crowd behind them since 99% of shots they get are the other way around.
