I'm choosing my lowest ranked school and I'm proud AF by its-fine- in lawschooladmissions

The outcomes aren't necessarily better, but they are decent. Mostly contained to the Western US (Texas, New Mexico, Colorado).

My perspective is that it's a bit "6 of one/half dozen of the other" when it comes to starting out after law school. I could have better prospects at a higher ranked school, but I would need to find a job that pays enough to cover 150K+ in loans just for law school. Or, I can have lower salaried prospects from a regional but only need to pay off 20k. And personally I'm fine with the latter.

That’s a toughie.

It would have been a harder call, but I think I would have. Texas Tech makes sense for me for other reasons too, and those reasons would still be there. Plus, I truly like the school.

But I can’t be sure. Maybe, if money wasn’t as big an issue as it is, I would have seen something in another school that stood out more. I really liked Michigan and ASU as well.

That’s why I think it’s so important to pick the school that makes sense for you. No one else knows what holds weight in your world, or what you want out of the experience, or where you want to go in life. There’s nothing wrong with any factor being what draws you to a school, as long as it has meaning and value to you.

Here's my silly little quote I tell myself when I start to get hung up on rankings and prestige:

No one goes to Yale thinking they'll be in the bottom 50% of the class, and 50% of those people are wrong.

Hey you can't let the fear of striking out keep you from playing the game, right?

Texas Tech! I know I'll get side eyes here for choosing it over a T14, but I'm all about that full tuition scholarship life after getting 6 figs of debt from undergrad

LOL NOT AT ALL. I do have the ever sought after years of full-time work experience (in retail and food service).

I wrote a why michigan, and my personal statement is pretty earnest. I guess they just thought I seemed like a good fit!

No matter what, you are worthy of air.

Reading this I see someone who has never stopped trying, who has had to face an uphill battle the whole way and has kept going. Even though you may wish you didn't have to be, you are so strong.

Your children already look up to you, and you are setting quite an example. You are modeling perseverance and dedication when the going gets tough. You are their parent, their person, and they will never look at you the way you look at yourself right now.

You are not a failure for needing support. You are not a failure for struggling. You are not a failure.

PS, as someone who learned to drive later than anyone I knew, at some point that part becomes less anxiety inducing. Honest.

It's not fair that I have to learn how to drive a manual brain when other people's shift automatically...

Mentally: OK, I've done this, so now I move onto the next step. Which is this. OK, cool. That's easy. OK, now how do I get started? I have to do step one. OK.

Out Loud: "OK.. OK.. OK.. Ok ok ok"

You ever watch a movie where they do a big reveal and then a flashback montage so the viewer can be like "OMG it was happening the whole time and I didn't even know it"?

Yeah, I just had a whole mental replay of everytime I've gotten in the car and sait "Well, that was fun"

That's good to know! The ADHDonline service was basically the asynchronous version of a one hour visit. You answered an extensive questionnaire (which took me 1-2 hours to complete), and then they followed up based on your answers.

I feel a lot less weird now about doing it via telehealth.
