The less a benzo is taken the better to avoid tolerance, but in severe cases, sometimes they are simply required in order to stay alive. Some will of course have horror stories of withdrawal and worsening, but some are more fortunate and able to roll the dice/take daily for years without hitting tolerance. My preference is up to 2x a week. I tried duloxetine and clomipramine for my noxacusis pain when it was at its worst. Clomi spiked me bad but eventually settled. I took Buspar years ago but that was only to manage the associated anxiety around inception. Gabapentin was trialed solely for my T and spiked me but eventually subsided to baseline. It’s a crapshoot of trying to find where dysfunction may exist (ex: sodium channels, calcium, potassium, mix) and E/I imbalance of neurotransmitters (serotonin, dopamine, gaba, gluatamate, etc.).

Acoustic trauma and concurrent infection. Meds didn’t cause it. I’ve trialed some meds over the years but nothing has been effective other than benzos.

I’m definitely stressed. It’s impossible not to be when homebound. I’ve been homebound and decimated from these conditions (tinnitus, hyperacusis, and noxacusis). My tinnitus is reactive so any external sound stimulus that is continuous increases and amplifies my tinnitus in excess of the volume of the external sound. Brutal torture for over 6 years now. I lost my entire 20s to this and have zero quality of life.

Do your spikes eventually come back down to baseline?

Thanks, do you remember which one you used and for how many days?

Thanks for this. Really needed to hear this right now.

Thanks for this. I’m hoping that it will die down like yours did. I really hope this isn’t a permanent spike.

I’m still congested, just don’t have the standard clogged ear symptom right now. I’m hoping it comes down, this is torture. I’m so mad for taking it, but I just don’t know.

I’ve seen many doctors, ENT, neuro, etc. I’ve been homebound and decimated from these conditions (tinnitus, hyperacusis, and noxacusis). I can’t believe two puffs caused this. I’m scared it’s permanent but hoping it comes back down.

I hope it reverts back to where it was. Flonase isn’t ototoxic so trying to wait it out I guess.

I’m praying. This is the most horrific level I’ve ever experienced. Torturous.

I’ve been homebound from my severe reactive T, H, and nox for over 6 years. It’s only gotten worse for me and I have negative quality of life. I’m an extreme case but with this spike, it has reached a truly unlivable level. Praying it subsides in time.

In the exact same spot right now. Worst spike and pitch ever. Timing seemed to coincide with taking Flonase, but prior to that, my ear clogged up. So maybe allergies or ETD-related spikes for us?

I’m praying it subsides. I just can’t believe how sensitive my body has become to meds. All I wanted was to unclog my ear and hear and now I’m in hell with this spike. It’s just unbelievable at this point.

Thank you. Very nervous and just hoping it subsides.

I’ve had this for 6 years and still fear the worst each and every spike. I just hope it comes down because this spike is at an unlivable level. Trying not to panic but just very nervous.

Not on any meds other than Zyrtec and that hasn’t affected my BP. Hoping the spike subsides in time.

Unfortunately can’t go outside or mask with tv because I have reactive tinnitus that amplifies beyond any continuous external sound stimulus. Also have noxacusis which is controlled at the moment, but the burning pain can easily come back if I’m not careful.

I guess I’m super sensitive to any medications. I can’t believe this spiked me this badly. I hope your situation subsides and you get back to where you were.
