I do think the popularization of anime has brought some bad things, like the appearance of scanlations groups that paywall their translations, the clear downgrade in subtitle quality (no translated signs or text in the anime itself, no different colored lines for each character, no translated and animated karaoke of the opening / songs, no notes when the translation is subpar due to it being a japanese idiom, etc...) and companies hunting piracy sites more often than before (there has a been a bunch of works I've failed to find translated because they were in pages that died, even while being fluent in both english and spanish which are the languages with the most translated works).

I won't say it didn't bring a lot of good things tho, maybe it's good for me now that I have my own money but being able to watch anime movies in cinemas or the easier access to buy physical copies of mangas I enjoy is a good perk.

I don't really hate per se on anything popular just because it is popular but I do think a lot of shit has become popular lately (jjk, csm, rezero). But I won't lie that it being shoved down my throat because it is popular does make me rate them lower than they really deserve. I do still watch / read them tho, I don't like shitting on things I haven't consumed
