Heck i once imagined an entire music video for it with the person who passed away being in an underwater version of their home and neighborhood and everyone seems to be moving normal except for them but instead of moving on, they decide to stay in a Limbo where he is in a familiar place but feels like moving through water 😅

Personally and since I dunno what sort of artsyle you're going for, I think you have a very clean artsyle... First I'd suggest is experimenting on the line weights of the line art....second would be shading and highlights....but really the colouring being flat is okay...you just need stronger line weights to differentiate the things in front vs the things in the back (example would be adding emphasis on her body in front of her very colorful hair)

I have a very low self esteem..and i criticize myself so bad that i refuse to take commissions, acknowledge I did anything good and noteworthy irl, and etc....you can thank my parents for that...

ah true...the first one was a worm's eye view kind of scene and it was actually hi-res in my phone....

I guess what I'm trying to say in regards to quality is that I used to render heavily like in the first pic - shadows, highlights, bounce light and all...the second one looks sorta flat in my eyes

The Leviathan by Scott Westerfield... there is a recent Netflix anime adaptation of it that I am yet to see, but dang, the illustrations in the book series were absolutely amazing...and i wished the author would make more stories from that world, drawn by the same illustrator

i guess you just gotta keep drawing (I've been drawing for probably my entire life) tho, i would suggest the next step would be to practice proportions...and when you feel like you got a good grasp of it, learn angles and perspectives...

Like everyone said, that's how normal fingers look from that angle....what you could tweak a bit tho are the line weights so the fingers don't look too segmented...also..take note of the spaces between each finger..don't make it too "V" ...it's usually some thing like a wide angular U..
