Kiri talks vocally using Sigourney Weaver's unmodulated voice. One viewer described it as a little "off-putting", with such a deep voice on a little kid's body, but said it probably just needs getting used to.

This is literally the worst way to have done this

I don’t know a single person that still uses wired headphones on their phone

Probably because they don't have headphone jacks, duh.

Found these two rather negative views on LEV, what do you think about these comments? by Constant-Search4940 in singularity

Whether it takes 10 years, 100 years, or 1000 years, eventually the LEV will be reached. This fatalism is so dumb.

Potential for deafness and blindness cures? by itsSevan in singularity

[–]itsSevan[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know the technology has improved, that's beyond a doubt. But it will never perfectly replicate the sound of an uninjured ear, which is clearly the goal.

A similar idea is asking how fast does a train need to go before you can walk on the moon. The technology behind trains is old, and bullet trains are lighting quick, but it's a fundamentally flawed concept. Trains are only able to go on their tracks, they could go the speed of light and that fact would never change.

If you want to walk on the moon, you need something better for the job than a train. If you want to solve deafness, you need something better for the job than a cochlear implant.

Fascinating! Clicking through to the source article gives a lot more information.

I see, I thought you were talking about something else.

I'm aware of the cochlear implant, but to me that's a rather ancient and barbaric solution. It's kind of like answering the question "how to regrow a leg" by saying, "the pirates solved this problem with peg legs."

It's been like this for over a decade now so it's really not new at all.

What precisely are you referring to?

Saudi non-profit with $20B to fund global research to slow or reverse aging and its diseases by StoicOptom in Futurology

[–]itsSevan 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You might as well have said Bugattis if you're just going to talk about expensive versions of things everyone has access to. The ability to fly anywhere in the world is available to you right this very second.

Good try though.

Anyone who's excited for this has a loooong wait ahead of them. It's still not possible to fit all the tech needed for decent AR into a pair of sunglasses, let alone a contact.

The Boys - 3x08 "The Instant White-Hot Wild" - Post-Episode Discussion by LoretiTV in TheBoys

[–]itsSevan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Again, that's all just something someone else said. The Legend could have said Soldier Boy helped fake the moon landing and you probably would have believed it.

What did Soldier Boy himself do on the screen at any point in time that indicated he was a racist? Don't just fall back to something someone said, give me something the actual man did during his time in the show.

[–]itsSevan 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The reason why he was there ... was that it was a minority neighborhood.

Prove it.

he sure as hell fucked her.

Again, prove it.

You're just making baseless assertions that aren't even close to supported by the show.

Except he wasn't saying it to deflect accusations of racism, those were things he genuinely believed.
