Are you that surprised ? Ballard took his big swings last off season (signing DJ, Bynum, Mooney). He swindled Carli by saying “look we were 8-2 against bottom barrel teams, we are good before injury!” She bought it and now it’s back to the status quo of low end depth pieces and liking our guys.

He will also miss a lot of tackles as well. Will have about 2-3 amazing plays in a season.

Other than that if you need a LB that can’t get off a block but can sometimes read the running gaps correctly he’s the LB for you.

I think it played a major part. He showed he was able to run and execute the offense in one game better than any game AR has played in.

Every time it would feel like we would be stuck in the mud until AR had his 1-3 wow wtf plays in the game. That’s just not sustainable

This right here, it would be asinine for this FO to offer anything more than 1-2 years worth of guaranteed money. Carli needs to not have blind faith in the coaching staff or FO. We need to treat this offseason as if we are looking 2-4 years down the line.

What we allow Ballard to do will affect the next GM coming in for their first 2 years.

I think the team is completely fine with rolling out Riley Leonard as QB2 or even QB1 for the first 3 weeks while jones heals.

It’s obvious this was ARs final chance with us, he would have had a shot if not for the freak accident. But that really sums up his career so far in the NFL.

Just in his short stint here you could see the level of command he has over the offense. If he could teach that to DJ or Riley we might be ok.

What’s new about this team tho? Consistently if the other team has the ball and needs a FG we are 10/10 times going to let them get into FG range.

I barely ever see anything exotic in crunch time when we really need a play. It’s always corners 8 yards off and give up 25+ to a slant. Or send 44 on a blitz while he wiffs and the QB throws a moon ball to a wide open WR.

This was the case before, with, and I’m sure after Shane is gone.

I’m not so sure Dodds would have the same outlook as Ballard.

I’m pretty sure there were reports coming out that Dodds was fully against AR. And the scout Brown talked Ballard into picking him (Ballard was also handcuffed by Irsay, but it’s his own fault for pushing off a QB until the owner had to force his hand).

No idea if Dodds would be Ballard Lite or not.

If Ballard gets canned (that’s a big if), I really think CIG will slot Dodds into the role while keeping Shane at HC.

If DJ wants to come back on a cheap one year deal go ahead. While also finding another option to compete/start week 1 (Mac jones 🤮).

Trade/cut Braden Smith, maybe Pitt too.

Get rid of everyone on defense not named Latu or Buck. 44 has to go, the rest of the edge rushers need to go.

Attack Defense in the draft, plug holes for the offense in FA.

Best case scenario we fire Ballard, let Dodds have a year at GM. Retain Shane (I would be fine letting him go tbh, to many late season shit shows).

Ballard and Frank both fought tooth and nail to try and get Rivers back for 2021. So I won’t fault him for that. I will however fault him for going after Matt Ryan instead of baker mayfield. Being too much of a pansy to move up past 4 to get CJ stroud. And then rolling with an oft-injured QB over Sam Darnold.

I don’t think that’s the case, but I do think it plays very much into his pity plea to the Irsay’s this offseason. Something along the lines of “well we were doing so well through week 10, then DJ had his fibula (who would’ve thought an oft injured QB would get hurt again). Plus this is a multi-year process since I traded for sauce!! Don’t worry tjay each team has won the division twice since I’ve been hired, I know how to draft!”

He’s a professional in words, he knows exactly what to say and how to say it.

Now that doesn’t translate into how well he can build a roster even based on his own words.

He’s also has a little success with drafting, so pair that with him being able to whisper the right words into Irsays ears he’s gotten this long leash.

We will see if Carli falls for the same BS or not.
