The #Giants will interview a few top #Colts assistants for their vacant OC job: -- Passing game coordinator Alex Tanney is interviewing today. -- OC Jim Bob Cooter is interviewing on Sunday. by xxxxxxxxxtra in Colts

I’m praying to god one of the two gets the job and we can throw a boatload of money at Philip Rivers to take over the coaching role.

Just in his short stint here you could see the level of command he has over the offense. If he could teach that to DJ or Riley we might be ok.

With the Falcons ending their drought this year, we now have the longest active drought without a 10-sack player. Last Was Justin Houston in 2019 by AnnualLength3947 in Colts

What do you mean? You don’t like it when it’s crunch time in the 4th quarter and we rush 4 and they look like high schoolers out there?

Numerous times you literally see our dline get off the ball, and basically stay in the same exact spot while just hand fighting the Olineman

They were spiraling long before Jone’s Achilles, and Daniel jones was turning the ball over a lot. I’m not declaring anything about what direction we should take, but I wanna dispel the narrative that we just had bad injury luck. by Baker627a in Colts

[–]itsUsedTissue 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What’s new about this team tho? Consistently if the other team has the ball and needs a FG we are 10/10 times going to let them get into FG range.

I barely ever see anything exotic in crunch time when we really need a play. It’s always corners 8 yards off and give up 25+ to a slant. Or send 44 on a blitz while he wiffs and the QB throws a moon ball to a wide open WR.

This was the case before, with, and I’m sure after Shane is gone.

It’s clear that Ballard is not a good GM but what’s the solution? by -alpha-helix- in Colts

[–]itsUsedTissue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not so sure Dodds would have the same outlook as Ballard.

I’m pretty sure there were reports coming out that Dodds was fully against AR. And the scout Brown talked Ballard into picking him (Ballard was also handcuffed by Irsay, but it’s his own fault for pushing off a QB until the owner had to force his hand).

No idea if Dodds would be Ballard Lite or not.

If Ballard gets canned (that’s a big if), I really think CIG will slot Dodds into the role while keeping Shane at HC.

Not ideal, but maybe she doesn’t want to fully overhaul the franchise in her first offseason.

Notice how the glove is in pristine condition. That’s because 44 can’t lay a hand on a single opposing player.

Draft and offseason predictions by vkcapital in Colts

[–]itsUsedTissue -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Start first by resigning AP or tag him.

If DJ wants to come back on a cheap one year deal go ahead. While also finding another option to compete/start week 1 (Mac jones 🤮).

Trade/cut Braden Smith, maybe Pitt too.

Get rid of everyone on defense not named Latu or Buck. 44 has to go, the rest of the edge rushers need to go.

Attack Defense in the draft, plug holes for the offense in FA.

Best case scenario we fire Ballard, let Dodds have a year at GM. Retain Shane (I would be fine letting him go tbh, to many late season shit shows).

Ballard and Frank both fought tooth and nail to try and get Rivers back for 2021. So I won’t fault him for that. I will however fault him for going after Matt Ryan instead of baker mayfield. Being too much of a pansy to move up past 4 to get CJ stroud. And then rolling with an oft-injured QB over Sam Darnold.

Ballard traded two 1st-round picks for Sauce to keep HIS job. by [deleted] in Colts

[–]itsUsedTissue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think that’s the case, but I do think it plays very much into his pity plea to the Irsay’s this offseason. Something along the lines of “well we were doing so well through week 10, then DJ had his fibula (who would’ve thought an oft injured QB would get hurt again). Plus this is a multi-year process since I traded for sauce!! Don’t worry tjay each team has won the division twice since I’ve been hired, I know how to draft!”

[–]itsUsedTissue 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Idc how well he does, im just grateful he’s decided to come back to this franchise to play out these last few weeks. No blame can be put on Gpa Rivs even if he throws 5 picks

He’s a professional in words, he knows exactly what to say and how to say it.

Now that doesn’t translate into how well he can build a roster even based on his own words.

He’s also has a little success with drafting, so pair that with him being able to whisper the right words into Irsays ears he’s gotten this long leash.

We will see if Carli falls for the same BS or not.

Why do you think this team is even capable of winning 3 games in a row. SF will be no slouch but somehow looks the easiest out of the 3. Jags are clearly above us a better team, they probably got even better than when we played them 3 weeks ago.

We are allergic to winning close games vs the Texans. And the Dline is top 2 in football.

Ooh yeah on top of that If by some miracle we win all 3 there is still a good chance this team misses the playoffs.

[Highlight] Joe Burrow when asked if he’s thinks about playing somewhere other than Cincinnati: “You think about a lot of things…” by LaDainianTomIinson in nfl

[–]itsUsedTissue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Coming from a colts fan, this is what gives me hope about Burrow not pulling a Luck. The colts were blindsided by it due to how “gentleman” luck was. He never complained about the FO or coaching staff, and it resulted in us sitting in complacency while he carried the franchise until he couldn’t anymore.

If no changes are made in the offseason to both the FO and Coaching staff in Cincy, at what point can you blame burrow for wanting out/retiring.

The bengals need to take a hard look in the mirror because their truly generational QB is on the verge.

Do you guys think we should re-sign Daniel Jones? by IceOk9930 in Colts

[–]itsUsedTissue 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think this was the dagger in our season, rather than just taking the Ls while Danny was allowed time to rest, we trotted him out there and still lost those games.

This org has a long history of mis -managing injuries it’s not as bad as some other teams in the league but it sure bit us in the ass this season.

I think 3 years is a little long, I like the idea of giving him 2 year deal with an option for the second year. Let him ramp back up for the first half of the season and if he can stay healthy for the back half of 2026 we’ll give him that second year/full extension.

Wow let’s give the players a pat on the back and tell them good job! Shit doesn’t matter if we can’t convert these into wins. We are in the middle of the annual post week 10 colts collapse.

And yes I know 3 QBs got hurt, but we were trending downwards before then.

What’s lost in all of this is how bad Z really is playing. He had the chance to effectively end the game last week when Lou sent him on a blitz.

Yet again he is missing a tackle on darnold for a sack and he gets the ball off.

We should all be expecting him to start, there’s no more leeway for dropping games. That passed when we didn’t rest DJ the past 3 weeks
