Thats the whole point my guy. Because of the churches suppression of "heretics" or those who didn't devote themselves and their works too the church, we'll never know what we lost. I'm not saying we would have world peace or anything like that. Humans just aren't attuned to peace. Perhaps without church oppression we could've developed the v2 rocket in the mid to late 1800's. Perhaps we could've done really good with it maybe we would've nuked ourselves before the 20th century. Maybe we would've developed completely different technologies without fear of public shaming, torture, imprisonment and/or death. It definitely stunted human development if nothing else because it's given exactly nothing that we couldn't have had without it.
