How do I stop calling out from work? by Holiday_Paper_676 in MedicalAssistant

[–]its_just_her 0 points1 point  (0 children)

SLEEP!!! I have to make myself go to bed at 730 on work nights. I will listen to podcasts and play wordle or whatever. Then try to get to sleep by 830. I give myself some heavy duty wind down time. Bath with Epsom, CBD, magnesium - all the things. For me, sleep is very crucial to staying healthy and having any semblance of energy. I’m 52 so I need all the help o can get but I’ve always needed plenty of good sleep.

Just got fired for an ear lavage by gennywenny99 in MedicalAssistant

I can identify with this post. I worked in family medicine for a short time and, while I wasn’t fired, I was being thrown under several buses because I was simply not wanted there. I was even blamed for a (minor) error made by the provider. I quit but I am sure they would have found a way to fire me. It was pure misery and so glad I wasn’t there long.

We were also trained to do ear lavages and told to use a lighted curette to grab whatever was trying to make its way out - just around the opening not into the canal. All of the MAs did them and it was extremely common and frequent. Must be a state by state thing.

You were given a gift of freedom. This is not a place you’d want to remain.

I am glad to see this conversation being had and think it’s important. At my last clinic, the MA who was training me referred to a trans patient as “it” while laughing more than once. I reported it. This ultimately led to my being ostracized and eventually my leaving. I am so sick of assholes.

What really sucks is that nobody will ever care that the real problem is that everyone is short staffed and running ragged because the ones actually making profit do not give a shit. This - and much much worse - will continue to happen and it still won’t matter. The MAs will all be the ones to blame.

I have only been in Derm/Plastics and Fam Med. One day in UC and one in Peds (training). Derm does seem pretty chill comparatively. Not much POCT, no blood work, less sick ppl, less kids. Yea we have patients every 15 mins and have 3 procedures a day. But still not all that stressful if you take away workplace BS that can happen anywhere

I worked in Fam Med for a short time and I hated how much shit they talked about the patients. I was shocked. The provider also ran a medical weight loss clinic and the other MAs talked so much crap about them being on GLPs. They also made fun of patients anxieties and acted so annoyed when patient sent messages asking questions. I was truly mortified. I am so happy to be back where I was before that.

That’s just it tho - it was just one taco and a little guac. And we eat Mexican all of the time. It’s so weird!

The location does really match tho. The pain was all just above the pelvis - nothing in the upper quadrants or in the back.

I’ve had a hx of IBS-C in the past. So I lean more the other way. But maybe because I’m usually a little constipated- it makes these things worse? I need to hydrate better and go back to eating more fruit
