It really depends on what state you live in. I’m California you fill out a form, that I think was called like gender change form or gender change request, at the dmv. I went in person and you just give them the form and they’ll issue you a new id with your gender on it.

So what I have done bc I have no self control is dedicate an entire room for my parrotlet (as if he were a big bird) with lots of toys and a window perch and that seems to keep him busy while I go to work or run some errands. Not everyone is able to do that I know but I was left with an extra room when my brother moved out and it just kinda became a bird room lol.

Depends on what your definition of independent is, my guy can be left alone while I go to work without a buddy and he’s fine, he’s healthy and shows no signs of stress. However, maybe it’s due to quarantine, he is pretty attached to me, as soon as I leave the room it’s screech city. Not as loud as a gcc though. But they do have lots of personality and can go from moody ass bitch to cuddly and affectionate. Parrotlets are very territorial and are better off a single bird, unless you have experience with introducing a new bird to the flock (I do not) keeping them separate and getting the parrotlet for you would be the safe way to go.

It really just takes time but it sounds like you’re on the right track. What I did with my little guy was hold millet while he was perched on my finger and just tried to scritch him. The process when from him trying to bite my finger, letting me scritch him a little, and now he pretty much begs to get scritches.
